AR Upper/Lower Set

My son is looking to do his first AR assembly.
Any suggestions on a reasonable stripped upper/lower set in the $200-$250 range. He is looking for a flat top, preferably without forward assist.
I used SunDevil and it is outstanding but it is over his high point on price.

Stag Arms has been having a "blemished" sale ... could get what you want for about $120... but with Fwd Assist.

I think Aero Precision is about your only upper option for no forward assist in that price range.

Just curious....what is the reason for no forward assist? I don't recall ever seeing an AR rifle without one.

The assist thing is not a big deal, just seems like an unneeded part and cleans up the right side. I'm seeing more and more AR's without them, when I built my 6 years ago they seemed reasonable new.
