I'd guess, for every one 1950's Colt or S&W some widow brings in, you're gonna get 1,000 Hi-Points ... good luck auctioning 'em off. Image

Not somethin' I hadn't thought of, myself ... though. Image

But had you considered the intent of the program is to anonymously accept weapons that could potentially be traced back to violent crimes and murders if they were subject to some forensic testing? This is a great way to dump a murder weapon and you can be sure it's going to be destroyed.

I wonder how many stolen guns get returned to their rightful owners through these buybacks? Do they even bother to run the serial numbers?

On the news last night they showed what looked to be an M1 carbine as part of the collected weapons.

I heard an interview on the radio last week. They were going to destroy all the weapons collected. Specifically said they were not going to return to owners if stolen.

$50-100? That's cheap. I recall an article about a Chicago area gun buyback that offered $200 for handguns and "assault rifles" and $100 for other long guns. I suppose that's when you use your C&R license to buy a palette of $79 Nagant revolvers and turn them in.
