Are your matches scored by group size, decimal score or a combination of both?

Congratulations for Second place.

Score is total for Class which is total of 6 targets(5-shots per target) shot over 2 days, 3 in morning of 1st day, 3 in afternoon of 2nd day, or reversed depending on squadding for Pit Duty.

Group is average of 6 targets in Class shot over 2 days as explained above.

2-Gun is a mathematical formula based on a perfect score and subtracts value and adds to average group size. I will try to find the formula.
2-Gun is done with 2 different Classes shot. If more than 2 Classes are shot, you must designate beforehand which 2 to be used for 2-Gun Total.

A Screamer is 5-shots under 7.000"
A Yeller is 5-shots under 1 MOA = 10.47"
A "50 5X" is just that, all 5-shots in the X-ring
X-ring = 6" diameter
10-ring = 12" diameter
9-ring = 18" diameter
8-ring = 24" diameter

A perfect 300 score was just shot 2 years ago by Lee Rasmussen and he shot 6 Screamers doing so. Several shooters have shot 299's.

4. Two Rifle Score: The 2-rifle aggregate shall be calculated using
the best 2 group and score of either, Heavy, Light, Unlimited or Hunter
(Class) and be calculated by the following formula ((Competitors Best
Class Aggregate Group+(50- Competitors Best Class Aggregate Score)
+ (Competitor’s Second Best Class Aggregate Group+(50-Competitor’s
Second Best Class Aggregate Score)) / 2
A. Ties are broken by the total X count of the two classes of competition,
if still tied then by the total score of the classes of competition.

I shot 17X's which was the highest for the Weekend Match.

I will have to admit that my initial reaction to drilling 1/4" holes thru a beautiful Walnut Remington stock and bolting on a piece of plastic removed from a junk television formed to be a higher cheek-piece was rather poor taste, but you have definitely used it to achieve good goals with great results.

That warning/disclaimer was meant to be tounge-in-cheek. I didn't take your reaction personally, and haven't harbored any bad feelings, so no apology necessary.


I choose to work part-time (so I have more time for things like trips to the range). But that means I have to get creative to stay shooting while I save up to purchase good equipment (I've only been serious about rifles for 3 years, and none of my family is into guns). Next on my list to buy is a better barrel, and then I'll buy a propper stock.

If one has the money, they should buy good equipment, but if one is poor (by choice or not) they can still have fun, and be serious about practicing skills.

Nice pics of the Nebraska range! Kinda looks like an abandoned golf course with the sand trap on the left.

This will be the final update about this rifle, and it's a good one.

The only thing that is original from when I started is the action. The last improvement done to the rifle was I sent it down to Crescent Customs in Kansas City in the fall to have it rechambered; I heard Tim Robers knows 6.5x55 well. He gave it the match chamber it so badly needed, and he added a little extra leade for VLD bullets. I'm shooting 130 Bergers with Reloader 26 and Lapua brass.

3 years is way longer than I wanted it to take to get the accuracy I wanted out of this rifle, but I'm glad I stuck with it.
