History Channel Now Seeking The ultimate Marksmen For Its First Competition Show!

If you are skilled with a pistol, rifle or any other firearm, you could win $100,000 in prizes on TV's first marksmanship competition show. The History Channel and the producers of "The Ultimate Fighter" are looking for anyone with mind-blowing shooting skills and a big personality to take on exciting physical challenges with multiple guns and mystery projectile weapons.

In each episode, contenders will face team and elimination challenges inspired by real events in history, from Wild West shootouts to modern-day sniper missions. Every challenge will reveal the weapons, technologies and tactics of a different era, while hi-speed cameras capture the skillful execution of each test. If you're in good physical shape, have mastered a firearm and can adapt to new weapons and demanding physical situations, you could be America 's first "Top Shot."

Sounds like a good show. Tough to rely on your skill when you have no idea what you'll be shooting, but that is part of the fun I guess.

My skill with an 1845 Harpers Ferry is nothing to write home about.

Unfortunately, as such I won't be able to apply...

Crap, I've got the "in good shape" thing covered. Now if I could shoot......

The fact that I cannot hit the ground without gravity's help using a shotgun disqualifies me immediately. Handgun skills follow close behind. The last time I shot a rifle past 600 yards was rather underwhelming......

I'll be interested to see what background the winner has. Precision rifle at long and unknown distances, high-speed, low-drag pistol shooting, and possibly trick-shooting and some shotgunning (multiple clays etc....) are not generally skills that overlap too far, at least not at a high level. A "jack of all trades, master of none" could end up taking it simply by not being eliminated through having any massive weaknesses.

The "in good physical shape" part tells me that they are going to make some of the stuff realistic, or at least they're gonna wear your ass out before letting you shoot. It could be fun to watch.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.
