I thought that was our right, and duty, as men? Am I wrong?

An old man who has long since passed told his wife "When I die and I am getting put in the ground, you need to wear a dress, because as you throw dirt on my box, I am going to be looking up your skirt" I think that describes all men.

Yeah, and the original is posted up on the bar mirror, and it's the same as last year, when dear old elmerfuddem decided to get his panties in an enormous wad. Considering the usual banter between HammAR and Tootsie about sniping nekkid and pet sheep, I can't see how the announcement shows us in a light any different that we sometimes portary ourselves and others when we're joking around.

And quite frankly, if you're truly offended by that, then you probably don't belong inside the Gopher to begin with, and there are (and always have been) signs that also say that. You don't like a place where the 1st and 2nd Amendments are defended to the hilt, then perhaps Brit's where no guns are allowed is where you belong. The Gopher is an institution that predates the lifetime of 90% of the members on the board, and it's always been the way it is now.

And finally, considering this is the 8th or 9th breakfast that's been held there, and there's never been ONE occasion where we didn't get at least 10 more people than signed up, don't you think it's a little late (like two years LATE) to start with the questions and the criticism??

Consider who is complaining; me & justa: 2 of the bigest dipshytes on the board. All we need is S-tard to chime in and it will be perfect.

I've been to only 2 breakfasts there, and I found the place to be a hoot, and the company outstanding.

No question. We love it there.

Justa and I are just jacking around on each other, not the bar.

As an aside, Margaret and I enjoyed a very nice 'British High Tea' featuring Victorian carolers at Brits during Christmas. We had invited our retired Pastor and his wife. Naturally I DIDN'T wear my SIG P229 nor my Glock 33, because of the signs.

Jimmy C and I will be there a the Gopher on the ninth as well; we're still negotiating with the gals about their attendance. Lunch at W.A. Frost usually goes a long way to make things come out my way on deals like this.

WHO WAS YOUR INSTRUCTOR????

You do realize that you can go into Brit's WITH your hardware on you, regardless of the sign, and not be guilty of breaking any law?? The MPPA states that for you to break the law by entering a posted establishment, they have to figure out you have a gun on you, and THEN ask you to leave, and THEN you have to refuse. You have then committed a petty misdemeanor and have to pay a $25 ticket. So far as anybody knows, none of the 64,00 permit holders in Minnesota have EVER done that. Zero tickets for this offense have been issued.

I just picked on Brit's particularly because it is a posted establishment, and because it is so British it brings to mind the complete folly of the TOTAL handgun ban in England, plus the fact that London now has a higher per capita handgun assault rate than ANY US city. (Hope I got the proper wording on that right...) Plus a lot of other British silliness like jailing people for 10 years when career criminals break into their house for the 3rd or 4th time, and the criminal winds up getting shot, and later getting COMPENSATED by the British government for his disability and mental anguish.

BTW - when I'm in the area I'm down at The Local, which is an Irish joint, which doesn't have any STEENKENG signs, but then again I'm half Irish and a full bastard to boot. Generally, however, I'm at the Gopher, and there you can get verbally abused by George if he knows you have a permit and AREN'T carrying. Usually, you will be called some sort of phaggot to your face if you aren't locked and loaded. That's MY kind of bar!!
