I wonder if I will be fired from work??

Postby phorvick on Thu Oct 25, 2007 7:05 am

I sent the following note to the Staff at school today. I wonder if I will get fired. I hope so:

---
Staff...it looks like the weather forecast for this afternoon (Thursday) is superb...low 60's, reasonably sunny...a nice Fall Day. (By way of reference, the forecast for Friday is about 15-20 degrees cooler, or perhaps given where the temperature drop is starting from, the word "colder" is a better choice than "cooler").

I am thinking of stopping at the local shooting range (just north of town) after school...about 4:00pm. I much prefer enjoying a nice afternoon with a few others, and am inviting any interested staff person to come and join me. I can provide hearing protection and a wide variety of noise and hole making implements, so you would not need to bring your own.

If you have ever entertained the thought of seeing if you might like the sport of target shooting, this might be a great time to try in a no stress environment. I do not yell, scream or intimidate (well, unless you exhibited some unsafe behavior!).

If you might want to "give it a shot", e-mail me back. If there are no takers, I have to go to Fargo to look at computers. Ugh.

Some Q&A:

Will there be any EBR’s ? No, not this time…but…perhaps if there is a next time…

I have never done this before. Will there be some that are low stress easy to handle? But of course.

What do I need to bring? Bring a good attitude and perhaps an empty target (Coke bottle)

It would be helpful to me if you could respond ...(multiple answers are permitted on this test; there are no wrong answers, every answer is correct...just like modern education.)

a. yes, sounds fun, I will try to make it

b. uff da, too short notice, but if there were another session at a later date, and I had more notice, I think it might be interesting

c. I'll be there, but I have to stop and get my machine gun first

d. thanks for the invite, but not my area of interest

e. guns kill; I am a pacifist and don't trust myself around guns, so, no.

f. not my cup of tea; but, if you organize a howitzer shoot....

g. not this time; my Uzi is in the shop

h. if you promise to be gentle, I think I can make it

i. a school militia? Can I be the General, can I ?? Yes, sir. I will come.

j. are crew served firearms allowed at the range?

k. sure...if you bring the tannerite (which begs the question, is tannerite allowed at this range? If it is, I'll bring some next time. It is way too much fun!)

l. guns are for hunting only; to suggest that there is a fun factor is irresponsible

m. I am reporting you to Mr. Krogstad

n. I am reporting you to Mr. Lund

o. I'll come if you have a .22 to try (but of course!)

p. I'll come if you bring a .45 (but of course!)

q. you are a gun loving redneck; of course I'll come

r. you are a gun loving redneck; of course I won't come;

s. mmmmmmmmm, guns; mmmmmm

t. No! No! How many times do I have to tell you!

u. I'll have my son/daughter with; can he/she try? (sure)

v. I always knew you were odd; now you proved it; I'll never talk to you again.

w. Guns are evil; ergo you are evil. Never.

x. Guns are mere tools. I don't think I like them, but, I am willing to see.

y. I only have 1000 rounds of ammunition to bring; is that enough? (And you think I am the redneck???)

z. Heavens, no.

aa. Does this mean there will be an official NCE Gun Club? Can I be President ??

bb. Not this time, maybe later.

cc. Never.

dd. Go back to your room, lock your door and never come out.

ee. what are you...nuts? I would not come if you paid me.

The question is; did you invite Mr. Krogstad and Mr. Lund?

Lund = Principal
Krogstad = Supt

Of course they were invited!

All you need to do now Paul, is convince everyone that they should be able to bump fire a revolver. :P

If you come to Fargo, we can always go out back here at work and fire off a few rounds.

Wow --- that was great. I would never have the guts to send out an open invitation like that.

Do your co-workers know about your shooting activities and credentials?

Thats quality!

I was gonna offer to be an extra hand at the range to make sure a gun doesn't "accidentally go off", but I got a really ugly test tomorrow to cram for.

Some did. "Mr. Lund" is also an instructor..we do go out once in a while. Most probably know. Heck, I think all the kids at school know...they tend to "google" their teachers.

Last year I took the Calculus class shooting. It was fun.

I saw no reminder in your list, that it's usually a student that goes off the deep end, and not the teachers. ..................although I'm sure I drove a couple to drink.
You are a sick and twisted man Paul, and I like it   8-) I doth my cap to you Sir. A post very worthy of my 500th, in my mind. Keep it up.
Could you please post responses, both fore and against, ommiting names of course, (unless they really deserve outing)

Thanks

Final results. It was too short a notice... 2 wanted to come; 7 more wanted to come if they had more notice. So...a date in the future with a week's notice is being planned.

Of the 9, 4 had shot a bit before; 5 were new shooters; 3 were women.

Now, in light of a different thread...good thing this is not Iowa! Goodness...what they would find in my car!
