Decrypt the points of departure and return your head slowly and you do not cancel your hair.

What Deaner posted, bring money for parking, you may need to park. Also warm and possibly water-proof outerwear if this weather persist. Actually a bum-drum may be kinda nice for heat and you can kill two birds with one stone doing that; first you can keep warm, second you can piss off the "earth is you mother" crowd when you use asphalt shingles for fuel.

The IN PERSON is intended to be to the office of the Commissioner of the Dept of Public Safety. Get it acknowledged in receipt, get them to stamp and sign another copy as received. (The commissioner's office is not posted (and cannot be) but does have a buzzer per Andrew Rothman)

If I were trying to avoid any confusion should my firearm become visible inside a building (bathrooms are usually inside, right?) between the time I notified the DPS office and when they got it to the Exec Protection office at the Capitol, I'd then take that signed / stamped / receipted letter to the Executive Protection office at the Capitol (while NOT carrying) along with a copy front and back of my DL and permit (NOT required by law but they WILL ask for it) and drop it off in person.

yeah, the law only requires you to notify and you could just carry on the receipted letter you took to the DPS office.

I OC'ed there(or the at the big teaparty/tax day thing) last year along with at least 2 other (independent) guys. You shouldn't have any problems. For what it's worth last year one of the capital police didn't even bother carding me after approaching me from behind, asking if my gun was real and lovingly touching my back. He did tell me I was going to piss off the crowd and that what I was doing was bad. So they are professional in the way that mattered, but some of them might be opinionated.

that's because the statute says in buildings on capitol grounds.

The other benefit of the letter and list is politicians can do math.

Let's see 74344+ permit holders, x of them have sent in notice... That's a VERY active political group right there.

Yep, just over 1% of the State's population.

Yep, just over 1% of the State's population.

And how many of that one percent are from out of state and cant vote here, and of that percent how many really pay attention to this topic? Just looking at the two forums not very many. Lets try to look at this realistically.

wrong statistic.

Compare MN resident permit counts to number of people who have given notice. It's a much higher rate of informed, politically active people than many other causes.

Maybe, but even if they alienated the entire permit population, which wouldn't happen, they are only affecting a little over 1% of the population. I realize that you could argue family and friend votes and what not, but still an insignificant total number of voters compared to other groups.

But since you brought it up, what are the counts of people who have given noticed compared to the total number of permit holders?

I wonder if the Exec Protection folks would tell us how many people are on their "list"
Probably have to file a FOIA req to get it if they wouldn't.

I think increasing that %, whatever it is, is a GOOD thing. It can be referenced. Carry permit holders are an active political group and they have long memories for this kind of stuff. That kind of thing.

So you're just assuming that a large percentage of permit holders have given notice?
