New gunsight technology

Sounds interesting, I think I need one for Appleseed.

"Idaho National Laboratory's innovative gunsight technology, the MicroSight, helps the eye solve this problem. The MicroSight, a disc smaller than a dime, brings both the target and the iron sight into simultaneous focus, giving marksmen a better sight picture. The new sight has national-security applications, as it could improve safety and performance for American soldiers. Millions of target shooters and hunters should also benefit. "

Wow, I like it. No moving parts, no batteries.

Don't know that it'll really help with hunting accidents, though, unless it's installed on eyeglass so hunters can more clearly see the warning label on the Jack Daniels bottle.

This seems to be a "micro" 1x scope with dual focal points. I know it doesn't use traditional lenses, but the functionality is the same. If they hit the market I can see them being banned in iron-sight competitions.

It's kind of like a Fresnel lens, used in light houses ages ago.

Works on a different property, actually, diffraction instead of refraction.

Designed by the same person however.

If the military adopts it this it would make qualification on the 500 yard line so much easier!
Although I'm sure they would stick to iron sights for that..
