Arizona carry law

Postby monschman on Thu Jul 29, 2010 4:37 am

Just heard from an old acquaintence that AZ has passed a proper carry law. Apparantley anyone of age can now legally carry a firearm with no restrictions, permit or training, bout time people started implementing the constitution the way it was written.

Does that mean felons and such can do so as well?

Might be a whole can of worms I opened up with that question but just curious.

You're suggesting they weren't ... before the new law? Image

Felons are a "prohibited persons" per federal law for possesion. So no, felons can't carry.

Yes, you need a permit while carrying, to enter any place that serves alcohol.

A proper bill would have no restrictions. ;)

You have never needed a permit to carry in plain sight in AZ, if memory serves. I was born and grew up there and remember that open carry was legal in public without a permit. You had to have a permit to carry concealed. Now it looks like you can do either without the paperwork. I remember signs in banks and grocery stores that asked people to check their guns at the service desk when entering. Man I loved living there. Don't miss the heat, but I do miss the AZ attitude. Everyone seemed so much more relaxed and open about stuff.

quite a few differences, this item from shooters world, phx, az.

Think You Know Your Privileges?

The new Constitutional Carry Law DOES NOT Provide the Same Rights as the CCW Permit Holder

Benefits of a Carrying Concealed Weapons (CCW) Permit
•Ability to carry a concealed weapon within 1,000 feet of a school. It is almost impossible to travel through the Metropolitan Phoenix area without crossing a 1,000 foot boundary of a school. You will need a permit to conceal carry throughout the valley. (Federal Law)
•A permit to carry a weapon in Arizona’s National Parks. If you want to carry concealed in National Parks located in Arizona (Grand Canyon) you need a permit. (Federal Law)
•Reciprocity to conceal carry in twenty five other states. If you plan on travelling and carrying concealed a permit is a must. (Arizona Law)
•One does not need a background check when purchasing a weapon, just show your permit with your identification. (Brady Bill)
•You need a conceal carry permit to carry your weapon in a commercial establishment that serves alcohol. If the establishment is not posted you may carry a concealed weapon into the bar if you have a permit and you do not consume alcohol there. (Arizona Law)
•When you take a concealed carry class you learn the laws of when you can use deadly force.

Shooter's World is the valley CCW Headquarters.
We have what you need to carry your weapons concealed.
Go to the CCW Course page.
