Where is the Wall to Wall Coverage

Postby gunflint on Mon Dec 10, 2007 8:25 am

A "crazed gunman walks into a mall, kills 8 people and himself and it's wall to wall coverage. A crazed gunman walks into a church, kills people but is shot by an armed guard potentially saving dozens of lives. Just try to get any info on the second story.
The 2nd Amendment is the ONLY amendment in the Bill of Rights that specifies that it shall not be infringed.

Your right though, noone is saying anything. And they are calling him an armed guard. He was nothing more than a permit holder volunteering for a security position at the church.

Cool, so I am an armed guard when I go to church. :flag:

or...do the church officials have to know that I have volunteered for this position. :hmm:

I heard that the permit holder was woman - trying to verify.

As of late Sunday, police had not identified the dead assailant or released details about the gun he used. KUSA-TV in Denver reported that the gunman had worn body armor and a tactical helmet.

I would. I did and presented a plan for them to consider. After a couple of discussions I was fully surprised when our minister and deacons approved it and added "Please do!"............ :o

In the denomination I attend, there is a standard church lay office called a "sexton". Nowadays, these are little more than janitors, ushers, and parking lot attendants, but in medieval times, they were armed security. Traditionally, they were armed with maces, and modern ones are given batons as vestiges of this tradition. Not only was there a need to protect the flock, but also portable church property. They were also retained to guard against grave robbing. Some traditions carried over to the US, as well. I know that in Texas, sextons have full police powers while on church property. I bet this is true in some other states, as well, but Texas is the only one I know of for sure.

Ahhhhhh. So that's how Koresh did it. Made all the male members of his church sextons.

While I am all in favour of having armed members of the congregation, can someone explain to me, Church of Star Trek or some other fringe beliefs, and yes I know about the 1A
