It was a semi, but I couldn't tell what brand. Love that show--something about tracking down the bad guys and arresting them just spins my wheels!

Why did you fire the gun?
It was an accident.

Yah, slow-speed chase with multiple cars chasing him, all of them lit up--then he runs through a spikes set with another several cars sitting with lights and sirens on...but he didn't know he was being chased by police, he thought it might have been some one else out to get him! So he starts shooting out the moonroof. I think the thing I love about Cops is that they prove again and again that it is the dumbest possible people who commit crimes. It gives me hope....

What I find interesting is the outright lies the police keep saying to detainees. Every show, there are statements made that are one hundred percent make believe just trying to get people to admit to the police stuff.

The police officer has no case when he tells you "Tell me what happened and it will go better for you", thats a lie.

The police officer is lying to your face when he says, "I am your only friend out here tonight"

The other is the way the Cops keep talking to the guy who lawyers up, trying to drive a wedge between the accused and the Constitution. "You only need a lawyer because you're guilty" "What do you need a lawyer for if your innocent, just tell me what happened" Grrrrrrrrr

I generally see "Just tell the truth and it'll make everything easier."

Technically that's not a lie. They just don't specify who it will be easier for.

For the record you don't have any statutory right to the truth from police. There's no federal or state law that guarantees you truthful information. There's no recourse if you say something you wish you hadn't, even if you're outright lied to.

While true I believe it's very short sighted to behave that way. Every teenager I meet now has a 100% negative rating on police. Look at another website many of visit, ripping the police and having no confidence in them is pandemic. Why? Because no one TRUSTS the police.

Peelers Comments really do come into play here. The Police only operate at will of the people. When the people loose trust in the Police and get to the point that calling the police is the LAST thing you should do, then the system breaks down. Its down right broken right now. Until the Police get back to believing on an institutional level that they only operate with the consent and support of the Citizenry. I do not see much hope in fixing the system.

I find it terrible that I have teenagers and college kids telling me that they know stuff is going on, but they can not call the Cops on it because it will only make things worse. I have to tell my kids, Do not trust the Police, it hurts. But its true. Once upon a time, we could believe that if you had a problem and called the police, a person would show up with some common sense and authority and try to sort things out, and leave the situation better than when they arrived. Today, I have to say I see that happening very little of time the police are called. The recently posted case about the guy in New Jersey, where a guy got seven years despite trying to do everything right, just reinforces my positions.

Wholly agree. I'm in your camp. So don't get me wrong.

What outcome are they expecting? I don't generally do hand-slaps and say, "go forth, and sin no more." That's the parents' job.
