Local Source for Ammo Cans?

Postby Dave Pendleton on Sat Feb 05, 2011 8:20 pm

Does anyone have a local source for ammo cans?

I'm tired of ordering them online only to have rusted junk show up.

Thanks.

There is that one Army surplus store on White Bear ave. A few miles North of 36.

+1 to that. Just picked some up the other day in Lakeville.

A guy from Stillwater (IIRC) sells them regularly at the MWCA shows and they are in excellent shape generally

Might I suggest a 5 gallon bucket at home depot with the o-ringed lid? Air/Water tight, all for about 5 bucks.

They have quite a few to choose from. Last time I was there I picked up a few of the smaller ones for around 8 bucks each.

Yeah, the guy lives North of Hwy 96 just past the Gateway Trail Bridge, and his prices are super reasonable. You can get 40mm cans in good condition for $6, and if you get 5 or more he might go down to $5, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than paying $6 for a much smaller 50 cal can. I was able to stop at his house and buy some, which is way better than trying to lug 5 of those things out of the Fairgrounds or other location.

I have these too, but I want these cans to actually store ammo. A FGB full of 9mm would weigh about a million pounds.

I looked at the Ammo Can Crew web site, but they don't list 7.62 cans so I'll have to call. I'm also going to check out CCMilitary.

Thanks all.

if you wait for a show, they will at least tie a bunch together for you -- but if you think ahead and bring a fold-up luggage cart, you can pile 10 or 12 on it and just wheel them out to your vehicle! I know it works since I've done that a couple times now... ;) ;) it's not to much trouble to walk around the show with the cart until you get to their table - I think I even left my cart with them while I finished my rounds at the show once, but that might vary with how much space they have.
