As far as i understand i, age 20, need a permit to purchase military rifles, and most FTF sales require them to just cover their bases. So i applied with my local PD a week ago, got a denial because i am not able to purchase a handgun. So i went to the PD to ask them about it and the lady i talked to seemed like she did not want to deal with it, even suggesting me to go gander mountain and do it, even after i explained i wanted it mainly for FTF transactions. She said she would talk to the city attorney about it and get back to me.
I just want to make sure i am in the right about being able to obtain a permit to purchase at my age for FTF transactions and military style rifles. It just seemed weird that they denied me because i cannot buy a pistol from a store, even though the form states nothing about just being for handgun purchases.
If this is a repost, i tried searching for it, or in the wrong section please move or message me.
BTW this is the formed i submitted, assuming it is the right one: https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/bca/bca-di ... nsfer.aspx
Thanks for the help!
