Ruger LCP holster, what do ya think?

Postby John S. on Fri Jan 27, 2012 6:10 pm

I'm gonna buy the gun, but, wonder if this pocket holster would be good. Seems pretty practical, but, do you think it looks safe?

I cant speak for that holster - but I used a rough out from Sideguard Holsters when I carried a lcp and was quite happy with it... - b

That holster I don't know? I don't like the exposed trigger.I carry my lcp in a pocket holster ( trigger covered) and it's very comfortable.

I agree, trigger is exposed which increases odds of an ND.

Don't those holster types flirt with AOW classification? Scroll down to wallet holsters http://www.atf.gov/firearms/guides/iden ... earms.html

Why even use a holster ?

In addition to increased safety, a holster can give you a more reliable draw by holding the gun in a consistent position in the pocket. A wallet holster also helps with concealment by changing the outline of the gun as seen from outside of the pocket.

To repeat something that other people have said before me, and which I heartily agree with, most stuff from Sportsman's Guide is Craptastic!! That holster certainly fits the bill. Yes, it increases the chances of an ND, plus allowing all the lint and whatever else you have in your pocket to work its way into the trigger mechanism. Really, really bad product idea!!! Plus if you ever plan to have kids in the house, this means they can pull the trigger with the gun still in the holster!!

I've got one of these. You should decide whether you want a laser sight, since the holster is a bit different. It's good quality and they have the best price on Crimson Trace...

I aggree, the exposed trigger had me saying, "not too safe,'" but, I really like this one. Wouldn't glow without a laser, but, then the laser in SG is mounted on the RH side, http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/l ... x?a=919088 so it would be coverd. Not real sure on how this laser turns on and off, so, as long as it didn't turn on in pocket it would be cool. I still plan on carrying my SP101 .357 anyway so the puny .380 would be more of a back up.

Laser:
Actually it looks like it has an on off button just above and ahead of the trigger, not the best for a lefty like myself I suppose

Lasergrips have an OFF slide switch, and then either one or two touch activation buttons on the grips themselves.

This isn't actually a grip, if you look at the link, it mounts just above the trigger on RH side.
