Here we go

Postby SparkyJeff on Wed Feb 08, 2012 5:01 am

I put this envelope in my mailbox today.
It was kind of a big deal for me. I'm bragging about it everywhere.

I ordered a service grade Springfield M1 Garand. Am I likely to be disappointed?
I dislike not being able to see what I am buying before I buy it. But I'm hoping I get more than my moneys worth due to good fortune.

Has anybody ever been dissatisfied with a CMP rifle purchase? I hope I'm not the first.

Hoping for the best here.
Jeff

The CMP folks have been notified to be on the lookout for your envelope. They have a hand picked Garand ready to ship to you.

Saw one at OGC while I was out there last fall, and the thing looked so mint I thought it might be brand new. But I checked the bridge on the receiver, and there were the letters CMP. Dunno about the different grades available, but the one I saw was a real beauty.

I have a couple/few. All great. There are folks who do great and reasonable Garand work. PM me if you think you need any repairs.

The last two I got were outstanding. Good luck, we'll be waiting on pics from you!

I have ordered an M1 Garand and two M1 Carbines from the CMP and have been pleased with rifles I received.

Here are some M1s at the CMP that are believed to be unissued. :)

Well, hmmm, would anyone be surprised if I received one of those boat anchors in one of these shiny grey plastic boxes?

It's 11:20AM Mike hasn't picked up the mail yet. I can still get out of the deal.

FWIW
I had a change bucket, with about 80 lbs of loose coins.
I brought the heavy coins to the bank and the lady said "Go ahead and buy a rifle"
I'm lying, but that's kinda how life is.

A CMP M1 should be in everyone's cabinet! Best purchase ever!

I sent off for one the day before they showed service grades back on hand. I got a field grade with what looks like a pretty decent barrel on it. Wood's a little rough and the finish is nearly gone on a couple areas.
I haven't been able to shoot it yet

I saw your post, you said you mailed your paperwork the Monday before 1-4-12. You're already fretting about not being able to shoot it.
So, in about 5 weeks I'll be wanting to hit the range?
I'm torn, I want a perfect rifle to collect, but I want a used rifle to shoot. Aw hell, I want one of each.
