Gunsite Academy / Stoney-Wolf DVD's

Anyone ever try any of the videos from the Gunsite Academy? "Tactics for Self Defense", etc. I've seen them at Fleetfarm and Cabela's. Kinda wondering how they measure up with other offerings out there. They're produced by a company out of Chaska called Stoney-Wolf, so that's pretty cool.

They're not bad for the price. We've sold them for a couple of years now. I think the first one had more to offer than the second one. The second one purports to address knife fighting but really does not.

That's a little shady about the knife part. I went ahead and bought the tactical carbine volume yesterday. Like you said, not bad for the price. By the looks of things, these guys were pioneers in the field of instruction videos, which IMO excuses any roughness in the delivery of otherwise good info. Don't expect a Magpul video here. The main part of the video was about 50 minutes. The mental preparation part was another 30.

Good:
-Cheapest videos of this kind you'll probably find.
-Good information and insight.
-The mental prep video is nice to have in there.
-Target pop ups.

Bad:
-Delivery is much more robotic and clunky than current videos.
-Info is 20-30 years old (is it still up to date?)
-Information isn't as densely packed with fine details as newer videos.
-No chapter menu, almost a straight VHS to DVD transfer. Simple options of video 1, 2, or both.

Preference:
-Parts of the video are very AR specific.
-Free collection of Tom Selleck mustaches.
-1980's infomercial rock (the worst I've heard in years).
