New NRA member

Postby Irish.40 on Tue Apr 03, 2012 4:48 pm

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I chose this forum. About a month ago I joined the NRA via their website. I am wondering if anyone can tell me about how long it takes to receive the membership packet, hat and decal? I ordered more decals from the online store cause I will probably get those sooner. FYI, I joined as an annual member. Couldn't sneak the life membership dues past the boss.

Great question, as I was about ready to ask too. I joined as a life member on the payment plan though. But its no quicker, and they took their $ quickly.

Mine took almost two months and I joined in February. The sky is falling emails, and spam for the NRA insurance, credit cards, and every other imaginable product started immediately.

I believe I received my renewal letter before I received my cap.
And I received a renewal letter every month since.

They must write us old farts off as I hardly ever get anything from them. Occasional email or junk mail is it other than the magazine.

Don't forget too... the NRA insures your guns up to a $1000 for members. Needed to use that service a few years back as the result of a burglary. They sent me a check covering them!

From a NRA life member to a new member: Welcome aboard and thanks for joining.
From one gun rights advocate to another: Consider joining the Second Amendment Foundation in addition.

I also joined and haven't received my things yet, but I also expected a wait as a new member as well. I plan on also getting a Conceal and Carry Permit down the road a bit, but I'd like to get started in pushing for a "Stand Your Ground" ( with Immunity ) law(s) in Minnesota. I also don't like the ban on silencers or the ability for the state to take away weapons in times of emergencies -when we need them most of all.

There is nothing I hate more than junk mail and the NRA sure wastes a lot of money on it. Maybe I'll actually join someday but for now I have a hard time signing up for all the crap they send out each week. I couldn't believe all the stuff my old roommate got, it was worse than credit card company's and their card offers.

Thanks for joining.

Usually the NRA is pretty good about listening to its members as far as this stuff goes.

I asked them to take me off the calling list, and said that I didn't want any nonessential mailings. I have not (knock on wood) gotten anything from them in the way of junk mail in over 15 years. The stuff from their "business partners," yes, but not them. I became an endowment life member, and have given 3 life memberships away because they listen.

I sent GOA and 2nd amendment foundation some money 10 years or so ago, and got all kinds of junk. Asked them to stop, they didn't, and I have not given either a dime since, and I still get mailings from them maybe 4 times a year asking for an annual renewal.

Its all about money...

Welcome to the club! You can also gift a membership to someone (gift... holidays... just an idea!)

They have a deal now to gift/join/renew for $25 instead of $35:
