Don't use Hoffy's FFL to ship anything!

Postby Drizzle on Wed May 16, 2012 9:24 am

Cripes, they ship a gun to the wrong place first of all, they ship using USPS which takes ten frickin days, then once they get the gun back from the wrong store, I drive down there to pay for overnighting it Monday, asking them to get me a tracking number.

I call back today, and find out they hadn't shipped it yet, didn't bother to call me, and would probably be getting me a refund for the forty bucks I paid Monday!

The guy I'm shipping this to in PA must think I'm the biggest moron on the planet.

Thanks for the great customer service, Hoffy's.

I have done several very timely and successful transactions with Hoffy's in the past two years.

Dan is a great guy and he aims to please, give Dan a call directly and explain your situation. I am sure he will do everything he can to make it right with you. He runs a gun shop and works a full time job in the trades as well. Like many business owners unfortunately he cant be involved in every aspect of his business every moment of the day, I am sure he will work hard to make it right with you.

There was some confusion whether to ship it to an FFL in PA. When I dropped it off, I was told it would be sent that day, I'd emailed the FFL copy to the shop email. Someone there didn't check the email, and it sat there for a week before I called to see when it would ship. The confusion happened when it went to the wrong shop. I called, and it was sent from the wrong shop back to Hoffy's, using USPS, whcih took ten days.

I emailed the shop Monday and they said it had arrived. I drove down and they said it was set to ship USPS to the correct FFL. I said I'd like to pay for it to be shipped overnight via Fedex to the correct FFL, and paid 40.00 to do so, and asked the tracking number be sent to me that day. I emailed the buyer it was to be shipped Monday overnight. I called today to find out that Hoffys doesn't have a Fedex number, so it hadn't shipped. I asked where the 40.00 I'd paid had gone, and they said they were working to see what it cost to refund the difference to me. I asked why they hadn't given me a call to let me know it hadn't shipped, like I was told it would be Monday, and they had no answer.

All i wanted was communication, and though we'd exchanged many emails on the topic, Hoffys couldn't send me a note about it. Why not?

Email is free, I dealt with Dan when I dropped the gun off and paid the extra for it to go overnight, why is it so hard to send me an email, so I can tell the guy I'm trying to trade with it won't be there.

I got tracking info it will be there Friday. Guess we'll see.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. Their customer service was just as horrible when they were calling themselves "Bullseye Shooter's Supply" at their old place in Lake Elmo. I was in there a bunch of times and they acted like they were doing me a favor.

I just had a internet purchase I made shipped there. It was shipped USPS and took 4 or 5 days-I'm not exactly sure when it was shipped. No one called me; I was told there was no phone # in the box. I opened the case and there was the invoice 8.5x11 with my phone # right there. I paid my $20, did the paperwork and left. No one's perfect. That's why I always check on stuff.

That's really sad to hear how far they've fallen. A few years back Bulls Eye in Lk Elmo was a pretty nice place; a fair bit of reloading stuff, an interesting selection of new and used guns, and the prerequisite 'bar stools' at the counter, and a dog bed-usually with dog on the sales floor. I attended several free seminars there; intro to reloading, long range shooting/ ballistics. I believe just before the name change, and subsequent relocation, one of the 2 partners left. I was in the old shop just once since then. Spent as much as I could, but as they were out of stock on much of what I wanted, I went home and spent an almost equal amount at Midway. I keep hoping they make it, as there aren't any gun shops anywhere near that close to me...

I go in there pretty frequently, as they are on my side of town. I used them to ship a handgun a few months ago, and also to do a transfer on a pistol I bought off Gunbroker. No issues with either transaction.
I haven't bought that much stuff from them, little things here and there, one rifle.
The two guys that are usually behind the counter take a while to warm up to you, but now they're pretty friendly to me.
I don't go there looking for a hug, though
Remember, gun control is not about guns, it's about control.

I'm not looking for a hug, just business courtesy.

Once my buyer has this pistol, I won't be going back there.

Yer choice!

Everyone knows Marv at Frontiersman ... but he ain't there 24/7 ... sometimes ya get someone else. :?

I went into Shane Co. a couple years ago to buy somethin' fer the wife ... almost immediately, some hottie practically trips over herself to greet me ... she was my BFF fer the next 20 min.

Most any gun shop? ... often quite a very stark contrast. :(

Good, cheap, fast, friendly ... ya can have any two!

I have only ordered bullets from them twice, no issues. I did have to call both times to see if my order had arrived. I do that to any business when special ordering anything. To be honest even if their service sucks, I will continue to buy from them because it's the only place within 15 minutes of North. St. Paul that has reloading components. Either way, midway gets the majority of my business.
