Anyone seen one yet? I might be interested... I dont know how I feel about loading a "real" caliber lever gun through the tube however.

I have seen one. It is very tempting. I have a thing for 45-70 now. It looks like a nice rifle.

For that kind of money you can get the Marlin Guide gun version or, if you don't need it short, get the Marlin 1895 Cowboy version with the 26" octagonal barrel and nice wood. I got one of those and I love it, it's about the same price!

I know all about all the new .45-70s marlins putting out, GBL, SBL, G etc but Ive heard lots of complaints of quality issues of rifles coming out of their new factory.

Ya know, I am typically a sucker for a lever gun and .45-70 is one of my favorite rounds but something about this one just looks off. Can't put my finger on it but pretty she is not. I would go the marlin route I think if I was going this way. Have not heard about any quality issues with Marlins, typically they are built like a tank. That is why they have a 2nd set of reloading data for the .45-70 for the Marlins.

Yup. Comparing the pic I think the stock lines on the Marlin are much more classic (plus the wood looks better). Also looking at the barrel the henery is to rossi like and not as refined as the marlin. Also look at the receiver area, the swoop henery did just does not look right.

I have the Marlin Guide Gun.
No quality issues. Another internet fabrication.

I've shot many deer with it, using my reloads.

I would go with the Guide Gun if I were you.

I own many levers, and except for my Model 71 .348Win. I would have to say that the .45-70 is my next favorite.

I dunno ... maybe I'm jest easy ... but if it fed from the receiver, and had a longer fore-end, I'd seriously consider it ... rest of it looks good, to me ... particularly the included XS sights!

Buddy of mine had a Big Boy .44 ... very nice, smooth rifle! ... awfully heavy though! ... even for a octagon!

Save up your pennies and get the real thing...a Winchester 1886! Either the original (obviously used) or the Japanese Winchester or Browning new models. Either is a thing of beauty and makes that Henry look like some sort of Frankenstein's monster! Heck, the Henry Big Boy goes for $750 new, for another $300 you can have a N.I.B. 1886 Winchester!

The Model 71 replaced the '86 in 1936.

I would really like to get the Browning replica '86.
I see that the prices for the replica 71's and '86 are around $1700.00.

An original Model 71 is selling realistically for around $2000.00, and the good old original '86 is through the roof in price.

Unbelievable pricing.
