Latest word on Gunstop

Postby Seismic Sam on Thu Oct 11, 2012 11:30 am

Just called up Gunstop, got John-Boy's assistant, and found out that while the gun half of the store IS empty right now, Larry plans on taking over and starting up business on December 1st. :D :D :D

Excellent. I don't even live in the state, but I do the majority of my reloading business there still. (of course John was never going anywhere)

That shop just isn't the same having one side and not the other. There will be many times where shipping and an FFL transfer from GS will be worth a look even for me.

Glad to hear it, many nice purchases and great service over the years at Gunstop. Bought my first deer rifle there....

Awesome! My favorite grocery store (both counters).
Men may argue forever on what wins their wars, and welter in cons and pros, and seek for the answer at history's doors, but the man with the rifle knows.

Nice. Maybe I'll sign my little girl up for dance next door after all!

Often thought it'd almost be worth doing that if i had a girl at the time. 2 hours of ballet would be easy, if done in a gun shop.

If you are going to walk on thin ice, you might as well dance.

I haven't been to Gunstop in a while, so are you guys saying that it's closing? The gun side, the reloading side or the whole thing?

The gun side closed September 15th. The reloading side is still there.

Well by looking at the auctions web, 10% buyers prem., 7% MN sales tax, and if you use a credit card 3% fee = 20% . You better know your pricing and TRY to stay on track. Thank goodness I'm on call and can not go. It would be some good entertainment to just go and watch.

Well, the 7% MN sales tax is inescapable, so it's added on no matter what, and you can choose whether you want to pay the 3% for a credit card or not. So it's really a 10% premium to bid online, and considering that what you're paying for is to bid while you're at home drinking coffee or beer, (or if you're bidding on a cheap .25, Night Train!!) rather than driving to Annandale and standing around for 4 hours waiting for the gun you want to come up, it's not bad. It's also industry standard for the high buck car auctions down in Arizona that they televise, so this is nothing new or different. Plus you can see how the bidding goes over a period of days, instead of one minute flat, where you could make a bad decision and wind up paying Gander Mountain USED prices for a NEW gun!! :P :P :P

Latest word on Gunstop

Alright then, you guys made me think twice about taking a ride out there. Especially since the items I would be interested in are probably NIB, they'll probably go pretty high. Still might consider going for entertainment purposes.
