I had him install a bead on a shotgun, which was very inexpensive. Did a fine job, although it's obviously not a complex task. He seemed like a nice guy... My only concern would be that the impression I got from talking to him is that he is not a formally trained gunsmith, but rather a guy who has just 'messed with guns' for a long time, if that makes sense. I asked him about some work on AR's and I got a 'I think I could probably do that' type of answer. Again, it was a limited interaction, so take it for what it's worth.

He’s in the process of installing a front bead and ordering a new magazine plug screw for my "very old" Winchester shogun as we speak. He told me 2 or 3 weeks turnaround time…… November 30th will be 3 weeks, so I’m not able to evaluate his work yet. He did ask me if I was in a hurry and I said no…….which is probably why the repair time frame has been delayed.

He seems to do good work and is willing to talk about his craft. I had him evaluate some problems I was having with two different revolvers, a Taurus 94 and a Model 10. In both cases he talked me through the issues and gave me simple easy answers rather than charging me for shop time to talk to him. I've seen the end result of some re-bluing work he did and that was to my eye really good work.
I would take a gun to him if I needed something done that I can't do myself.

I have had him do gunsmithing for me for the last 30 years. I know he is a Vo-Tech trained gunsmith and machinist. He tends to not promote himself which can lead you to another conclusion. Overall he is an excellent gunsmith! Does a wide variety of gunsmithing. I don't know anybody in this area that does all he can do in his shop. He also sells guns a great prices.
