I had a great time hanging out at a machine shop and they let me make a gun to boot. A very fun day and chatted with some cool people while we waited for our turn to complete our lowers.

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all of the guys that came down for the Machining Party on Saturday. We had a great time meeting and talking with each of you. We appreciated everyone's patience to work our way through the list. There were a few bumps along the way but they were worked out and noted for the next party.... :-) We have some ideas on how to improve the process for next time and many of you indicated you want to come back to machine more. Have a great spring/summer and we'll keep in touch. Thanks again for all of your support for a very successful machining party!

OK - lets try this, here are some photos of the machine party held by Jakl on Saturday. What a great time I had, even meet an old family freind's son I had never meet before. Just proves what a small world we live in. Jakl and Ms. Jakl you were wonderful hosts and all of us thank you for hosting the event. Looking forward to the next "party"

Anodizing:

OK, those involved in the build party who want your lowers anodized, please let me know via PM and I'll start putting together the list. The cost will be determined by how many we have done at the same time. I'll keep the list open for a week or so to give everyone a chance to let me know if they're interested. Once I've got the list, we'll figure out a time/place for me to pick them up and then schedule the anodizing to be done.

If you have any conditions on having your lower anodized, such as times, places to meet, cost involved, please let me know.

Thanks much, and it was nice meeting you all :)

Hey guys, I know this may be a silly question, but you all have test fitted your uppers to the lower right?

IF not, please do so now. If building custom bikes have tough me nothing else, its test fit everything before paint or chrome. In this case anodizing or finishing.

I haven't heard anything about anodizing so I'm going to pursue this on my own. This place mentions having a FFL in their "Value Add Services" section on their website. I will call them tomorrow to confirm they are cool with working on finished 80% lowers and then being mine up there within a week. If anyone wants to tag along to cut costs, you are more than welcome to join.

Thanks.

My mom works here. They offer a hard coat service.

But not sure if they're willing to do gun parts.

Contact them and find out.

Did anyone go with just duracoat or cerakote instead of anodizing? If so, how we'll did that work for you?

I am going to be Cerakoting mine. I have both my upper and the now completed 80% lower acetone washed and blasted. I am just waiting on the delivery of my Cerakote.
I have also picked up a toaster oven at a thrift store so I could use the bake on method.

I'll keep ya'll posted on my progress.

Hey, sorry all for falling off the planet for awhile. I'm still planning on getting my lowers anodized, and the following people have also indicated interest:

jshuberg - 2
CarRacer - 2
bigscoop - 1
driztan - 4

This would be 9 lowers. I'm going to PM each of you to confirm, and then get the price per unit. Again, sorry for the delay on this.

Well, I just called that Lindgren group place and they want any lower they take to be transferred from somebody with a valid FFL. That adds $40 to anything I'm paying and the cost to do a batch was $120.

I'm going to go with jschuberg's place and hope it goes well.
