Terrible idea.

I think he would appreciate it more if you bought him a complete AR each year :P

Providing he stays on the nice list ;)

What ya'll think brilliant or stupid idea :?:

I'm still trying to do the math.

I started this thread a year ago. This will be his second Christmas.

My son had 7 rifles before age of 2.
Then later found out he wanted to be left handed.
Now he has 4 rifles that are left handed, but he loves my AR's that have the "bump".
He is 23 now, 6'9", 220, and still growing.

Each of my children got a Savage Rascal single shot bolt action when they were born, the two oldest have done some dry-fire/snap cap practice on the basement floor (teaching them to shoot prone/seated right out of the gate) and thinking 22 shorts @ pop cans will be in order this summer on the farm.

Bringing back my thread since it's that time of year again. This will be my boys 3rd Christmas and his gift this year will be the barrel.

Funny reading some of the comments in this thread from a couple years ago about the prices and availability of parts. I just bought 4 lowers for like $36 a piece, Stripped uppers for $38, P mags for $7.99 and metal mil-spec mags for $5.

Well since the M-16 was adopted in 1964 it is what most people already would call an antique. As such the .223 should be replaced with a more powerful round. It is possible to set up the existing platform to accept several more effective rounds. If you were to look at the select forces of our military, by choice they use more powerful rounds to accomplish their missions. But then I am probably preaching to the choir, as they say.

I can't get the picture to load no matter what I try, but this years addition to Levi's rifle is a JP Enterprises MKIII handguard.

Yep. This was his forth Christmas. It's getting fun now that he's old enough to understand that these are parts for "his" gun.

This is a great idea!

My family was talking about great past gifts this Christmas. One thing my father and uncle started doing was giving us good quality tools for Christmas. We are still using many of those tools. I was going to start my son this year but wasn't organized enough.
