Cleaning out Fleet Farm

Postby grousemaster on Mon Dec 24, 2012 12:52 pm

Was it a forum member that cleaned out all the ammo at Carver Fleet Farm while open carrying today?

I stopped in to pick up some xmas presents. I went over to see the ammo selection and noticed a guy with a big dolly full of ammo cans. I assumed he was re-stocking the shelves, so I went to see if they had anything new. Nope, the guy was buying ALL 20 SPAM CANS OF 556 AMMO AT THE STORE. He even asked for them to double check the warehouse for more ammo.

He was also just hanging out, calling and wheeling and dealing on his phone, even giving some younger guy his contact info to buy ammo from him. Checking what mags he could still snap up, etc. I heard him coordinating with his buddy on the phone, and also heard him mentioned which other stores he was headed to next. He asked me if I wanted any of the ammo and I told him no, as even at $.50 a round it's too expensive for some dirty old ammunition.

If you want ammo, better get it now....this guy and his associates are on the prowl. I snapped a couple pictures of him I will post to this thread later.

I was at the Lakeville fleetfarm yesterday and prettymuch all 7.62 and .223 was gone.

Even most of the handgun ammo was gone. The only brass 9mm left was federal UMC. (which i like, but the price has gone up to $14 a box)

Well, if you're a fan of capitalism and Ayn Rand, you really can't object to someone taking advantage of an irrational market. Today, access to capital (money to buy up ammo and resell it) is the way you make money.

FWIW, I asked at the Brooklyn Park FF and everything in AR and AK rifles is sold out. They had a few Saiga shotguns, and some handgun ammo. I picked up another tin of 5.45x39 to stash.

Not sure what Ayn Rand has to do with this...just letting you guys know what's going on....he'll probably make $5k selling that junk ammo to some desperate fools.

Good on 'im. If I had the money, time and ability to life more than 15lbs I'd likely do the same thing.

Actually you can object if you want to just like you can complain that you lost your shirt when the market floods with ammo from all those who stockpiled it and you can't sell it for what you paid for it. It is called freedom of speach and I will be willing to listen as I purchase your goods! ;)

It sucks, I get that but why do you keep blaming people for this situation? What do you expect people to do? Not buy low and sell high? That is just not realistic. I want to be able to buy .223 ammo for 35 per a 100 pk and p-mags for 10 bucks too, but that aint gonna happen for awhile. Just gotta hang in there.

If you're stocked, sit back and wait. If you're not, sit back and wait. Production ALWAYS catches up with demand. Have a Merry Christmas!

I hear you. I understand the laws of supply and demand, but I do disagree with those who gouge
