When The Dust Settles- What will we have lost/left?

Postby LarryP on Tue Jan 08, 2013 6:24 pm

When all the new gun laws are passed, and the hysteria dies down, what do you think we'll have lost, and what rights do you think we'll have left?

Me-
No assault weapons or extra large magazines
Magazine limits on capacity
More requirements to purchase a gun, new or used.
Some type of changes in our carry law
Ammo purchase limits
And I think the NRA will be severly weakened by all of this. Won't have the pull it used to have with politicians

well it's nice to see that you rolled over and are willing to accept all this prior to any bill even being submitted

Yep, let's not beat ourselves.
If the Illinois banners got pushed back, there's no reason yet to believe the same won't happen in MN and DC

Yea those ones are not going anywhere. Eight house bills introduced that have no co-sponsors in a Republican controlled house. They may make a committee but won't get past that. Any bill in the house that will get a vote will come based of the Feinstein bill that can't be introduced before Jan 22nd in the Senate.

Regardless of where they're going, they were submitted last week, so your claim that the OP is rolling over prior to anything being submitted is actually quite wrong.

What are you willing to give up in the spirit of "go along to get along"?

It may be a good test of my faith that God will always provide. History shows things can work in our favor, or go the other way, and my soul is not for sale to any fear man can devise.

That said, "I swear on the altar of God eternal hostility to every form of tyranny over the mind of man." -Thomas Jefferson

I agree that there will be some changes....how extreme is yet to be determined. However the more crazy crap that Feinstein puts into her bill and the more restrictive it becomes the less likely it will pass. I also believe that gun control will mostly take somewhat of a back seat to the whole fiscal issue so hopefully everything gets pushed out a bit longer so the liberal media can find something else to sink their fangs into and people can began to think more rationally again. (Also on a personal note if something does happen I really hope it gets pushed out so my backordered PMAGS come in stock!!! :) )

Also I totally disagree with your statement of the NRA being weakened......maybe in the extreme short term however I believe if there are restrictive laws passed the NRA will become bigger and more influential than ever. There are millions of responsible gun owners that are not a member of the NRA and once they feel like there rights are violated they will go to one of the only groups that shares their views and is willing to fight for them.
