What'd they have for powder prices and availability?

I was there as well today, and they did have plenty of staff, and the place is pretty much fully stocked. Wide seclection of handguns, rifles and AR's. They are taking steps to keep the customers happy, instead of creating ways to make the customers rich :-)

For AR's they are limiting one firearm per person (which is allowing them to be in stock, what a great idea). They do have p-mags and .223 ammo in stock, the catch is you need to purchase a firearm to get them. When you purchase a firmarm, you are also allowed to purchase up to 4 p-mags and 1000 rounds of ammo. A very well run place, and I was happy to walk out with a AR.

I also stopped by the gander across the street and was able to get a case of 1600 rounds of CCI .22LR HV. This was the last case (as I purchased two additional cases yesterday at gander when I bought myself a pistol). They do still have about 6 cases of 1600 round cases of .22LR HP and at least 10 cases of 500 round .17 HMR.

They have a new Fleet Farm line of rifles to go along with Huldra. Korstog. Same component quality but direct impingement rather than piston.

I was there today as well. Nice place! Good selection of firearms.

The powder was in the back room and they couldn't find the price list while I was there. They said they stocked 1 pounders only. They were pretty well stocked on RCBS equipment and dies, some Hornady, and maybe some Lee too, can't remember. Pretty good assortment of Hornady and Nosler bullets (less the Hornady 55gr FMJBT bullets that I walked out with).

They had quite a few boxes of Federal XM193 and American Eagle .223 100 round bulk packs.

Appears Bill's just announced they purchased this from Fleet.

Appears the new Fleet owners don't want to be in this line of business, given Stewart Mills has the gun guy and now he is gone.

On the up side I'm glad it is staying open for the folks up there, on the down side I'm not a Bill's customer service fan.

Most of their staff is gone. It'll be new employees, and Gander doesn't have to worry about lowering their prices.

I'm glad UPS delivers to my neighborhood - it was nice while it lasted.

Figured something was up, Fleet had ALL their rentals up for sale. Most places rotate them a few at a time or by brand but when they posted the list I suspected a change of some sort was on its way.

Bill's Gun Shop & Range in Baxter will be open on January 1st. Thanks for the kind welcomes ( :D ) and we look forward to serving the fine folks in the Brainerd Lakes area

Some of the former employees have been retained, including management. All inventory will be be fresh and different from what they had in there before

Also note that hours are extended to 9am-9pm every day

Why? I doubt to many hoodlums are going to go to Baxter from the North MPLs area.

I really liked the fleet farm range up there. Nice and spacious. Hope Bills takes good care of it, I'm just happy it isn't shutting down for good.

Fresh, different, and full retail I'm sure.

When I got the Condor last week, there were only a handful of guns left. Pretty sure they shut the doors a week ago Thurs.

Based on the incoming weather in the next 24 hours, if you are heading up to Paul Bunyan land, you should bring your fur lined jock strap or your balls will be the same color as Babe the Blue Ox..... :freezin:

Just had knee surgery #4 yesterday, so I'm not allowed to drive for a few more days. 8-)

John's got a good business model that's obviously working for him, and I'm happy for his success. I'm just not his customer at the prices he charges.

Fleet Farm's gun shop was built on value and variety. They weren't the cheapest, but they weren't MSRP either. It was a neat shop.
