Ordered 1000 rounds of 45ACP last month.....

Ordered from Ventura Munitions on Jan 21st, on a "pre order" basis. Knew is was going to be weeks before it shipped. Emailed them this morning, asking if they had any idea when I might expect it. Got a response about an hour later, their supplier ran out of powder, looks like they won't have any more for weeks. She also said they are back ordered MILLIONS of rounds of 223, no idea how long it will take them to catch up.

That's just one vendor. Wow.

The local wally had 6 boxes of Federal 45ACP on the shelf yesterday, $20/box. Got 3 of them. The guy behind the counter put almost 20 boxes of 9MM on the shelf at 2PM, I was there at 5PM and there was only a few left.

Ran about 1000 rounds of .45 ACP off of my Dillon press a couple of weeks ago. Packed it into a large cardboard box and slid it onto the shelf.

I didn't panic buy. It was actually planned to purchase that much since October 2012; however, I do know what you mean.

I shoot around 1500 rounds a month as part of my normal training. Buying several cases at a time is perfectly normal. Well, except for these days....

Exactly. Last year between training and practice, I shot about eight thousand rounds of 9mm. I was hoping to up it to ten thousand this year. I don't think that is going to happen.
