A Marine gets his rifle

Postby river_boater on Tue Feb 19, 2013 12:04 am

From the link:

In 1961 Dad enlisted in the Marine Corps and was issued this M1 Garand. A Springfield Armory M1 Serial Number 1380819. Dad has been looking for it for over 50 years. I found it and purchased it from the Civilian Marksmanship Program in secret. It was a One in Six Millon chance to find it. I found it only fitting that a U.S. Marine should give it back to Dad. I love you Dad.

Nice.

It's only fitting that one who would defend this country with his life would be able to own the tool he did it with. What an honor and such a rare thing indeed. VERY cool.

Outstanding :bravo:, and thank him for his service. :salute:

Well done! If only I knew what rifle my own father had many years ago...

I wrote the son on YouTube complimenting him and here's what he replied..... I just figured I'd share his words:

Thanks a bunch! It was truly an experience of a lifetime. You can find the article in the next issue of the GCA Journal. "Grand Collectors Association" Journal.

Ever since I was a kid, Dad always talked about "HIS" M1 from Boot Camp. Now he OWNS it!!!

Thanks for the comments!

Josh

PS I found it's Brother. The Winchester M1 Garand. I'm waiting for the CMP to release it to me.

have a good one!
