Update on 22LR Ammo Donation to the Boy Scouts

Postby -=VILLY=- on Wed Mar 06, 2013 8:38 pm

I was not able to read any replies to my original thread asking for ammo donations to the Boy Scouts before a mod deleted them and locked the thread. From what I’m hearing, things on that thread were getting ugly and I thank the mod for taking care of it before it got even worse. At this point, I’m happier not to have read it at all.

I’m proud to report that I have enough donations from a few good folks. The total amount I'm going to be collection from these good folks is far more rounds than the 3,000 rounds the Scouts needed for their shooting weekend. They’ll have enough ammo to cover next year’s event as well. When I spoke with the Troop Leader, he was very much appreciative of the generosity this community is giving them.

I want to give thanks to Gunnar “solidgun”, Pat “photogpat”, and Chris “shooter115” for their donations. I also want to give special thanks to Bill “SUBWOFER2” and Doug “oldmanFCSA” for arranging a 5,000 round donation.

To Bill “SUBWOFER2”, I’m sure I’m speaking for most of everyone here in this forum when I say thank you for your service. Be safe out there. I look forward to meeting you personally when you return home from your deployment.

I also want to thank those who spoke up and vouched for me. I have no hard feelings when the legitimacy of my request was inquired upon, as it should be given all the scams and bad things others try to pull. I posted my real name and the people who knew me did exactly what I hoped for. I do not try to hide behind a moniker, nor do I try to hide who I am or who I represent. I am a member of the Minneapolis Police Shooting Team, a member of the Minnetonka Game & Fish Club, and one of the founders of the Minnesota 3-Gun Group. I am an active USPSA Handgun Competitor and an avid 3-Gun Competitor. I am also a simple man, trying to come up with a simple solution, to simply help out a good organization with a very good cause. And with the generosity of the folks I mentioned above, I was able to accomplish that mission.

The Boy Scout who is taking on our project as his Eagle Patch Project and the Troop Leader will present the project to the Board of Directors of the Minnetonka Game & Fish Club next Tuesday. I’m planning on being there to present them the donations.

For those who may want to post a reply on this thread and lead it to somewhere it doesn’t need to go, I ask you to please don’t.

Thank you,
Jomar Villamor

I'm always out to help the Scouts...anywhere anytime.

Good luck to that young man as he pursues his Eagle.

Nice to meet you as well!

If you need any help as an RO let me know, I'm USPSA certified and an approved BS merit badge couselor. Also if you have Scouts that want to do a shotgun shoot let me know I have 20ga ammo and might even be able to scratch up a youth gun.

some great members on this board. Even though I have no associations with any of the above mentioned parties.

I would love to see more rifle shooting merit badges earned by the scouts. Too bad the girl scout riflery program isn't all that active..... I have two girls.

Update on 22LR Ammo Donation to the Boy Scouts

Maybe I could bust out my Henry Golden Boy Eagle Scout edition. I am planning on bringing it to our court of honors and using it as a tool to encourage the kids to pursue eagle.

Jomar,
From an eagle scout, thanks for arranging that for the scouts. Plus very cool all the people who donated. I shot my first rifle and shotgun in scouts.

Nice meeting you this morning Jomar, I have fond memories of spending hours at summer camp once upon a time frustrating the daylights out of a saintly scout leader who was trying to teach the unteachable student (never did actually get the merit badge...) - glad to pay back the experience in some small way. :)

You got that for Eagle?? I Eagled back in the 80's, they didn't give those out then! Glad Jomar is doing this for the kids though!!

No, I got my Eagle in 2006. Never had an Eagle ceremony, this was a gift to myself.

Jomar and Family received the 5000 round donation at 2:00 PM today at McDonald's in Forest Lake,MN.
Thank you SUBWOFER2 for your part of the Donation to the Boy Scouts.
(That same ammo was selling in excess of $500 at Wells Sportsmans Show.)

Jomar also received 2 dummy rounds of 50BMG Target as used by me in 1000 yard competitions, one loaded with 700AP with re-cut Metplat, the other with a Lehigh 800 grain brass solid of 510-130 configuration. These are good demo rounds for clasroom work.

Signed:

OldmanFCSA with assistance from Subwofer2, who is currently deployed overseas.
Thank you Bill for your assistance and service for our great country.
