Ammo is arriving at stores

Postby LarryP on Sun Mar 10, 2013 11:35 am

I have a friend who is a store manager at a large sporting goods store chain. He says their ammo shipments are arriving on time.
Problem is hoarders. The employees play a game & see how long it takes to empty the shelve space once ammo is put out for sale. Usually a hour, lol they get a kick out of it.

He asked if I wanted anything, I said sure, few boxes of 9mm Nest few days I had my ammo.

There is no shortage for them, just crazy buyers who buy anything they put out.

Some people like myself do like to shoot and need some ammo, when they see it they have to buy it because it may not be there on range day.

It's not just hoarders.

Maybe if the store managers weren't sequestering stock for friends, the pressure to buy everything in sight, by those without connections would subside a bit.
Care to name that store??

You don't think the stores would like to receive more?

Buying someting that you want when you are lucky enough to happen to find it in stock and KNOW that it won't be there tomorrow and probably won't be there less than an hour later is "crazy"?

I have seen Fleet Farm with a pile of ammo in the back room and only put out a couple of cases every few hours. They have a problem with the same people showing up when they open each morning. Walmart is dealing with hoarders the same way.

Could you place an order for me then? I would like some (okay, alot!) of .22LR. Preferably high velocity. And could I get them delivered to my door?

Hard to believe there is no shortage when only a few boxes hit the shelves. Glad to hear they are having fun and games with all us crazy buyers, too. Geez

Way to sneak in the use of the term "sequestering" :D

It's not working at least at the WalMart in Shakopee. I haven't seen .22LR or .45ACP there in months.

Fridley Wal Mart had six boxes of .22 Federal 555 count the other day.
First time that I have seen anything on the shelves.
After I left, they only had four boxes remaining. ;)

I think part of the problem is the employees and their friends. I was relaxing in the sauna at the club a few days back when some younger gentlemen came in and decided to pollute the air with loud braggadocio that centered around the fact that one of them worked at the Gander in Forest Lake and was holding PMags and ammo for his buddies as it came in. He even said he went to the Woodbury store to get some that he had them hold for him.

I don't think a lot of the stuff that comes in ever makes it out of the back room to the shelves. Pays to have connections, I guess.

Well here is a tidbit of info too, I know a guy at Federal who got sticker shock when he asked for a couple boxes of .410 right from their company store. If he is right then we consumers are not the only ones paying higher prices.

That type of crap will only last for so long. When the speculators realize that the market is no longer there, they will be left wit a bunch of product that they do not need. I mean, besides me, who really needs 200 Pmags? :P

BS. I have not seen a brick of .22 any where for 2 months. I check the BP and Lakeville FFs weekly and at least one walmart per week. All anyone ever has in stock is .22 bird shot.

You may want to check Capra’s. They seem to have .22lr on hand quite frequently lately.
