WOW!

Postby Punisher102 on Sun Mar 17, 2013 12:18 pm

I went to the gun show yesterday and could not believe the pricing of 30 round mags..

I am all for making a buck, but triple?

I saw one vendor with the very same mags that you can get at FF (before December) for 10 bucks now asking 30... 30 bucks for a 10 dollar mag? That is just CRAZY!!!

I wasnt gonna pay 30 bucks for something that should only cost 10.. 15 is the most I would pay for that. yeah any other brand of mag will fetch more money, but for this vendor Im specifically speaking of the FF mags.. Not intending on turning this into a mag debate.. I am sure there are plenty of threads on that subject already.

I cant say I didnt pay higher than normal prices as I did go there with the intentions of buying stuff. I did come away paying 30 bucks more for the very same lower parts kit that I have bought before. But I have it in my hand, and I dont have to pay shipping. Not to mention that Gun broker has been getting over a hundred bucks for them. I also bought a brass collector I was looking for and some other do dads, ohh and I traded that A2 grip in the lpk for a A1 grip that I have been searching for.

All in all it was a good day for me, with the exception of mags. I just cant pay that much for a mag.

Just supply and demand. Capitalism. The very thing that built this country.

Honestly, I don't understand why people buy anything at gun shows. Is there really any item you can get at a gun show that you can't get at any of the gun/sports stores in the state? Or online? I don't think so.

Gun shows have always been a rip-off. This is nothing new.

Know what you are looking for, and what you are willing to spend. Deals can be found/haggled. I found a nice used 870 from a shop that is up around Duluth. Would have never known about it and then bought it if they were not at the show.

A friend wanted some bulk .22 and I wasnt that into searching for myself let alone him. I found a federal 550 round box for $50 so I called to give him the bad news.......he says buy it.

On the other hand I was not happy to see they want you to unload your carry weapon, I managed to ignore that sign.

I bought a bunch of magazines last week at scheels in st.clound (on a tip I read here) for prices which, are just now, very reasonable.
I found metal AR mags fit my mossberg .223 bolt action best and they had a wall of various .223 mags including the ones I wanted.
A person could make a profit reselling their magazines, but better those who want 'em make the drive up there and just get what they need at,as I said, bearable prices.

The january mwca show had the same inflated mag prices. Pmags at 60, new metal ar mags at 35 or beat up ones at 25. Mags were not moving at those prices, and I doubt they will move today. The only deals I ever find at gun shows are ammo cans or things like gun belts.

I was at the show all weekend and found New 30 rd P-Mags all over the show, new for $35.
Used (some new) USGI Alum. 30 rders could be had for $20-$25 on many tables.
USGI Alum. 20 Rders were $20 on many tables a few guys would take $15 which was a deal.
There were the usual scalpers trying to get alot more, but with very little looking AR mags were available at reasonable prices.
LPK's, couple guys had DPMS at $60-$75 early Saturday, they all sold and some got repriced much higher.
I thought it was a decent show.

Seen them this time for either 2 or 300.. which is STILL double the retail price for them.

Ohh on a sad note,, I didnt see our favorite seller that this one (could be I didnt go all the way around the outside) but I didnt see Blachthorne Products Or what ever his name is at the moment,at this one...

Gun shows are like Armslist live.

I must admit, I do enjoy the MWCA show just for the people watching; just watch out for the Rascal's and Hoverounds!

IIRC, retail was supposed to be around $840 or something like that, which would change the equation a bit...

I saw a SIG C3 for $799 at one table. They're $850+ anywhere else I've seen them for sale. There are always deals to be had, if you take the time.

Punisher: Blackthorne/Vulcan/Hesse, was on the outer ring to the left as you came in the door. Didn't really look, other than saw they raise the price on BCG's from $150 at River Center to $259 this weekend.
