question for Ruger LCP owners

Postby bobbfrommn on Wed Mar 20, 2013 9:52 am

Hey guys,
I just picked up a new Ruger LCP. The slide lock or "hold open" is a huge pita to move up and to the slide open. I'm just wondering if this is common for the gun or if it is because it's so new. I figured if it was new I'd just sit down and work it a couple hundred times while watching TV but if it's common I'd just have to live with and wouldn't bother.

I hate it too. Might get a little better, but that notion (a mechanical thing getting better/looser/smoother/easier with use) has always bothered me. If it gets "better" after 500 cycles, then it stands to reason that it will be loose to the point of non-functioning after 5000 cycles.

Bottom line, AFAIK, it's a tight little bugger.
I got nothin'

Does the slide lock back on the last round? If so just insert an empty mag and cycle the slide.

LCP does not have last shot hold open.

Yeah, its tiny; not much that can be done about it. At least its not a safety though.
