Who has quit shooting?

Postby 2005 Vette on Sat Mar 23, 2013 4:45 pm

Ok who has quit shooting because you don't want to shoot up all your ammo and not be able to replace it?

I've basically quit, I've shot 50 rounds since the madness began. I'm sure everything will be back to normal soon, hopefully...

I'm on that list. I'm not gonna compete with wolves for ammo. So I just sit on my stash. Can't find the guns I want either.

I don't shoot much in the winter, patricularly THIS winter, because I don't want to go to Bill's and lose 30% of all my expensive brass cases, and it's been to EFFEN cold at Oakdale. Apart from that, I gota 40mm Grenade can full of primers, whole small bookcase full of powder and enough bullets to keep me busy for quite a while. Plus if you shoot a DE50 or a Smith 500, shooting 100 rounds one handed is PLENTY for one day, and it's maximum mayhem and concussion at the same time!!!

Went to Oakdale Wednesday afternoon with my brother. I think it's the only time I've ever been there when there were no other shots fired than our shooting for the duration- 2hrs+/-..If you go watch your step- lots of iced over concrete.

Bill's north was nearly vacant the whole afternoon Monday. There were only 3 other lanes rented while I was shooting (3.5hrs).

Was at Oakdale Gun Club today with a friend.
I shot 100 rounds of 40S&W, 10 rounds of 22LR, 50 rounds of 9mm, 87 rounds of 7.62X39, 90 rounds of 5.56X45, 70 rounds of 7.62X51. But after dealing with wife's cancer, this was first time out in 3 months. It was fun! Again!

Now I need to quit again for awhile, but I needed to smell some burnt gunpowder.
Considering how bad a shot I am with a pistol, I should quit them altogether.
First 20 shots at 25 yards, I had 3 on paper. Pushing to left - adjusted trigger finger = did better at scaring the target.
Ruger MarkIII will not release magazine, for some reason, reason for only 10 shots.

Ive only shot 40 rounds out of my AR this whole winter to sight in a new red dot I got however what makes me upset the most is that I haven't done hardly any reloading. Ive got plenty of powder, primers and brass now but no 9mm, 10mm or .45 jacketed bullets. :x

Who has quit shooting?

Postby jshuberg on Sat Mar 23, 2013 6:59 pm

I'm still shooting around 300 rounds of 9mm a week, but I've cut back significantly on other calibers. I don't plan on running the happy switch anytime soon. I was eyeballing a belt-fed AR upper the other day, but I let it slip away. That would have been crazy expensive to feed. It would have put a smile on my face though.

I was in pretty good shape before the madness, so I'm still shooting whatever I want. I'm with Sam, though, Gosh it's been a cold winter to do much shooting outdoors.
I bet I've been to Oakdale maybe a half dozen times all winter??? Was out there today for just a little while, no kidding about the ice. And the mud.
I've shot at the new Bill's in Hudson a half dozen times over the winter as well. Mainly revolvers or .22's so I don't have to chase brass.
Remember, gun control is not about guns, it's about control.

My Sweetheart and I each got a Ruger SR22 yesterday so we blew through a few rounds when she got home from work today. Nice little guns.

the madness got me in to this :-)

I managed to pick up ammo up north, so I am shooting off about 200 rounds a week. I just need to keep a supply of projectiles and primers around now.

I typically don't shoot much in the winter anyways. It does appear that there will be a significant difference for me this summer, though.

I only have about 80 rounds of .223/5.56 that I am comfortable shooting without feeling "too low", so 3gun is not going to happen for me this summer unless I find more at a somewhat affordable price.

I shoot my handguns like a fat kid eats cake.
