About a year ago there were awesome deals on surplus Russian ammo loaded on stripper clips, but I would not suspect they are still around. I bought a few from cheaper than dirt about 2 years ago and they work about as well as anything else for a Mosin, but I don not think they are Russian. If you find any and afford them it probably wouldn't hurt to try them out.
JG sales has been getting 300rd tins of this in from time to time for a not so bad price.
http://www.buymilsurp.com/ - is where I got most of mine years ago - Don't know exactly where they were from, but they appear to be original military.
Right now the cheapest out there that I've seen are the new production chinese - You'll know these ones by the high polish or chrome plating. My experience with them has been negative. They can work, they're just extremely tight, on the rim rather than the web where they're supposed to be tight.
With any of them your results may vary, by the clip, ammo and rifle combination.
Which ever ones you get, unless they're well used they're gonna start out real tight and difficult to use.
Store them loaded, this will help break them in. If you see any burrs clean them off.
And get used to a whole lot of thumb hurt and practice.
Can openers? Hmmm... I've seen them at a random gunshow from time to time.
Generally the cans come with an opener, so it's kinda a disposable item. Most folks probably throw them away.
Depending on the tin, I suspect you could probably use just about any household can opener, or a knife in a pinch...

It's actually easier without the clips - but the clips make the process a lot faster if you're practiced.
