Police Run Out Of Ammo, Asks Citizens For Ammo

A nationwide ammunition shortage has police departments across the country counting their bullets. It's no different in Proctor, where the Chief says he was told he'd have to wait months, even a year to get more ammo.
"I was really surprised, let's just put it that way," said Chief Walt Wobig of the difficulty getting ammunition...Retailers say the nationwide shortage is due in part to people stockpiling ammunition in response to recently proposed gun legislation.

Do other LE departments have trouble getting ammo?

That's what happens when you're locked into purchasing policies that use the terms "low bid".

I would tell them to go screw themselves. Less politely.

He also sent in a request to Senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar for help regarding their ammunition shortage.

That is really going to help.

Too flipping bad.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

I just spoke with some 7 Rivers Park Police that say they're good for the year but hoping their contracts get shipped by the end of the year. They were shooting hand guns only, not enough .223 to practice with that. They have Duty ammo and practice ammo, so they won't run out of duty ammo. I'm kind of surprised they don't have better access than they do.

There's an outdoor range by my work where LE goes to shoot. Doesn't sound like there's much of a shortage.

I have 16 boxes of AE 9mm I will sell them for $100 per box of 50 :) Or trade two boxes for them to clear the last three speed tickets off my record.

I would have told them to ask the DHS for some.

I shared one 50 round box to be polite, and because it was a bribe to get him to sign off on a pistol range in my backyard
