Out of state MN applicant: which county to apply to?

Postby GunClasses.Net on Thu Sep 26, 2013 7:46 am

An Iowa friend who has taken a MN carry course wrote me to ask if I can find out where he might be best to submit his non-resident permit application:

"I'm willing to make a special trip to Houston, Fillmore, Freeborn, or Mower counties now that adjoin Iowa, but should be in Ottertail & Wadena counties next year."

I'm wondering if anyone reading this has, or has knowledge of, experience(s) that can speak to whether any MN county, particularly in this list, might be better (in fees or by processing) than others, for someone from Iowa to come visit and apply to for a non-resident permit?

Thank you in advance,

Query the county website.
Look under sheriff.
They often have the permit info listed.
If not, they have a phone number. ;)

Anoka recently dropped their price, too. IIRC, they're the same as Washington now.

I appreciate the contributions made here. It's good to see this support.
I've passed on Ottertail's info to my friend.
Thank you, all!

It takes about 5 minutes to drop off the application and cash to get a permit turned in.

Litchfield MN is the county seat for Meeker county. Go straight up MN 15 and MN 22. Just saying. Follow a route. ;)
