Beautiful, yes. Yummy, not so much. I've eaten two, one prepared by my uncle, one by me. When he cooked it, he swore he knew what he was doing and that it would be awesome. It was entirely unchewable. I followed directions from another hunter to the letter... wasted two pounds of bacon. I had a very hard time finishing a small slice of breast. Wolves could not have chewed the drumsticks.

In my area, they've become as much of a garden pest as rabbits and coons.

My old standby for tough meat is a couple cans of beef broth, a couple cans of sprite, carrots and onions on the bottom of a roasting pan. Put it in a 250 degree oven for 4 hours and see what comes out. Check after 3 hours and add more water if it looks low.

Anything that is not extremely tender and devoid of any gamie taste after that treatment is not meant for human consumption.
