Cost to cut and crown barrel?

Postby Glenn_S on Tue Nov 26, 2013 9:44 pm

Got a Lee-Enfield that has already been Bubba'd and it is destined to just be a shooter, so what will it cost to cut and crown the barrel locally? Bill's or ???

Run it down to Ahlmans. It'll be ready some time before the next Presidential election... or shortly thereafter. Can't be too expensive, but it might double the cost of your rifle.

Bring it out, I will teach you how to do it for free.

But a donation to help keep the shop heated would be appreciated.

I'm not a professional gunsmith, but have machinist skills.
I've only offered this because it has already been "bastardized".

I had the first 1 1/2 inches of the muzzle end of a .920 bull barrel turned down to .750 so I could mount a bloop tube on it. It had to be recrowned too and that job ran about 90 bux. Done by GS Gunsmith http://www.gunsmithmn.com and he did a good job pretty fast turn around at the time (last year) - about 2 weeks.

I've seen ADCO recommended more than any other smith on my national forum. Looks like very reasonable prices.

And you can do it yourself. Video has no audio, but it's pretty obvious watching it.
