Glock 42

It was just brought to my attention that Hyatt is taking preorders on the new Glock 42 @ $549 :o :o :o

Not sure if that is their "special" price or the MSRP. I was under the impression it was to be sub $400. This will be be very disappointing if true.

Doesn't look like it'll be sub $400 - more likely $425-450

Retail at one of my big my distributor's is $399 when I looked it up. I will assume that people will be scalping them as they will be hard to get for a while. I should have one soon for me to try and personal gun. I am getting all of them I can get my hands on.

I pre-ordered one with a LGD. No price though. Promised to call the second it comes in. But, I'm not convinced. I'm prepared to purchase ASAP (1/20/14)

The Glock store is selling them for $459 plus $40 to ship it to your FFL and then of course you will be paying $20-40 to get the gun transferred. I think this is going to be the std for this gun for a while until the supply starts to get caught up. Its really to bad that dealers gouge like that. But the retail is a floating number, there really is no such thing as a retail price. There is just a suggested retail. Its probably going to be best to just let things settle down and then buy one if you are not in a hurry. Its hard to say when they will be here I am hearing a week.

It'll sell because it's new and it's a Glock. Recoil sensitive people may like it,
but when most people see the size of this they'll laugh at a 380 that big.
I'll have a couple on hand when I can but not really sure why

Glock 42

Postby Erud on Sat Jan 18, 2014 7:18 am

I like Glock's just fine, but if I'm going to carry a pistol that is as big as a 9mm or .40, there's no sense in carrying an inferior caliber. If I am going to carry a .380, it's going to be really darned small. I think Glock missed the boat here.

This is a stepping stone for the 9mm single stack coming from Glock that is what I was told. It makes sense to come out with a 9mm now too. You are ok with a 9mm in a that weighs in at 12 some .oz., but I have seen a lot of people who it is just too much recoil for, but the .380 is manageable for them. Its all personal preferences. Carry what you are comfortable with as long as you can also hit with it.

On the subject of inferior caliber, what do you guys think if this report? What do you think of .22?

I think when it is called inferior in this case it has to do with similar sized or smaller handguns holding the same amount or more of a larger caliber.

I carry an LCP pretty often. Why? Because it's easy. This Glock is worthless to me, because I have the LCP. If I carry something this size, I have larger calibers that don't add much, if any mass.

I love Glocks. I don't love this one.

John, any news on the G-41? Such as availability and expected pricing? I'm very interested in one for a competition gun.

Thanks

Not sure if this a completely whacked Ohio LE only price (that will not even be available outside of Ohio or not), but thought I would share it. $339.00 each, seems like one heck of a sweet deal.
