Let's not leave the baby in the bath water. My mom was as left as they get, and gave me my first gun ever (sure just a Daisy BB rifle but at age 9!). Then enrolled and drove me to Gun Safety given at a local VFW, then told my dad (as right as a Goldwater republican can get) to get me a pellet gun for my 10th, as I still had both eyes and hadn't shot the neighbors pets or anything bad.

There are some sensible liberals out there, well, at least until she died. And yes, I did hear "and don't shoot your eye out!!!"

Oh yeah, I started with sling shots at about 6, bow and arrows at about 8, all with mutual parental consent. A minibike was too dangerous however...
