gun shops in Wisconsin

Postby smurfman on Mon Mar 10, 2014 10:30 am

Well, I have to take a trip to Baldwin, WI tomorrow and thought I would take the scenic route back home to Taylor's Falls if there were any gun shops to visit. I know of Bill's and the hardware store in Baldwin but what is there between I-94 and Hwy 8? Is there anyplace worth stopping or should I just head back to MN and home? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There's Russell's Sport N' Bike in Star Prairie.

Very small and limited hours, it's in Elk Mound, pretty far out of your way.

Totally forgot about St. Croix Outdoors, I graduated from high school with Todd.

Thanks all.

I should have mentioned St Croix Outdoors as that is where I planned to end my sojourn. There is a little pawn shop just east of there who carries some guns. His prices are pretty high but I don't know how amenable he is to offers as I haven't seen anything I was overly interested in.

I've hit all the ones on the MN side and am looking for new scenery. One never knows what item of interest may pop up in some of these places.

I stopped into that pawn shop, Valley Pawn,at least 10 times over the past three years. It's always the same with the owner. Things are overpriced and he won't move. And he is pretty grouchy. Guy seems burned out or exhausted by clients. I once brought in a gun to see what he might give me for it. To his credit, he admitted that he gives no more than 30% of book value-- he's honest about telling you his business practice, but not very fair. I would skip his place unless you are waiting for the missus to finish her antique shopping in nearby stores. I wish that there were more pawn shops in that area.
