Potentially Expensive Mistake

Postby viper8u2 on Sat Apr 19, 2014 7:19 pm

Hi Guys

I feel silly about this. I had ordered 2000 rounds of 5.56 from American Gun Wrangler on 3/5/2014. It was shipped 3/14/2014 and arrived on 3/20/2014. It required a signature and I wasn't going to be able to get home so I authorized the UPS guy to leave it. Keep in mind that the UPS guy comes to my house multiple times a week and is a great guy that usually leaves dog treats for my dog etc.

This is the first time I have ordered bulk ammo and when it arrived it came in 3 boxes all taped with that strong reinforced tape (I had to cut with a knife) around all directions of the boxes. 1 box had my free t-shirt. and the other 2 contained the rounds.

Here is a pic of one of the boxes I opened and the rounds look very nice

I ordered a bunch of ammo cases from Berry's and went to put them in today and thats when I noticed each box was only 500 rounds......

This is the first time I have ordered bulk ammo and I didn't count the box when it arrived. I contacted American Gun Wrangler to see if they have records but I suspect they will say they shipped all the rounds. The UPS tracking said the entire weight was 60 lbs but on one of the boxes I can see it was 13lbs so 4 would be close to 60.

I did contact my credit card company and they said I can dispute it and they will have their investigators check it out but I have never had to do this and not sure what they can do. I am holding off to give the ammo folks a chance to respond.

The good news is that I got it for a great deal $329 per 1000 plus shipping so it's just an expensive mistake and I learned what 500 rounds of ammo should take up in a box and to always count it. Do you folks usually open the boxes before the UPS guys to count this? I think I would have been in the same boat regardless?

Feeling noobish

Mike

I've ordered 12,000 rounds of 223, 6000 rounds of 308, 1200 rounds of 3006, 4000 rounds of 50BMG, and the only order I was screwed on was the last 1000 308 order pla ed which was to be all LC Surplus 7.62x51 which ended up being Pakistani ammo. I didn't open it until I sold to a friend. I tried to make it up to him by including 370 rounds of my LC 308 ammo. Sh!t happens, then you learn from your mistakes.

You got scammed. Best thing to do now is go haywire. You're gonna need a few lawyers for this one. Got any friends in the mob? Get the company's address and be on their doorstep come Monday morning.

OK, seriously... the other two boxes ended up on a different truck. You'll see them early in the week. :)

Doesn't each package have it's own tracking number? If so you should be able to find them that way.

Thanks guys,

It's been weeks now. Like I said, they had all the boxes taped together so it was 1 box. There was no packing slip for me to see the number of packages. Inside was my invoice and it said 2X 1000 so I assumed it was 2 boxes. It should have said 4x 500 if they were shipping in that qty.

They either messed up and only sent me 2 boxes or someone at UPS got 1000 rounds. I had to cut the tape to get the boxes separated though and like I said it all looked intact

So you contacted the seller but instead of getting that reply you went on the internet and complained that you were scammed?

Did you call UPS, did you call the company? If it was a credit card transaction why did you not dispute it?

Do you really think you are going to get more answers here than from the three companies involved?

You say you are a noobie, I have to concur with that statement in many different ways.

Yes how dare you share your negative experience thus far with an online retailer. We all need to be in the dark so we can have our own negative experiences. Please don't deny the rest of us a wonderful character building opportunity!

My point is "it has been weeks" and he has yet to talk to the retailer? Is the retailer not returning calls? Did the retailer hang up on him/her? My point is rather than "warn us all" why not first talk to the retailer? Often these things can get straigtened out fairly quickly. If not, then a good internet bashing is probably in order. Just seems this poster has really jumped to some conclusions here.

If boxes came taped together with one shipping label you are probably out of luck. If each box has a label there is a chance you can get somewhere, but seems remote to me...

Counting 2,000 rounds before UPS leaves is not feasible, but maybe weighing it was an option?
Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?
