Suppressors and other gun rights - the final push!

Postby jshuberg on Tue May 19, 2015 4:37 pm

Governor Dayton stated in a press conference today that he likely won't make any decisions on the final bills of the session until Friday. He stated he wanted to see them and let his staff go over them first. He vaguely referred to suppressors as "something that's really bad in one bill, but there are some things that are really good in it too, so I have to weigh those in the balance".

We need to keep the pressure up all week long. He will likely be sent the bill some time tonight so by Friday it will either be signed, vetoed, or passed without signature. Until then we need to melt the phone lines, fill the voice mail, and overload the email server with overwhelming support of SF878. This is far from over, we need one more solid 4 day push of support to get SF878 through to passage. Please encourage everyone you know to help!

Please call 651-201-3400 and let Governor Dayton know that you support SF878!!!

Please support GOCRA, who have been working incredibly hard to get things to this point!

I was going to make another donation, but it looks like the website is still down. I'm sure the coffers could use some replenishment after the recent expenditures.

In the meantime, I did send an email to the Governor.

The website has been under a complicated cyber attack originating in Russia all afternoon. Unfortunately it appears our hosting provider is having trouble keeping up with it. This is an obvious attempt to prevent people from getting up to date information on the status of the bill, as well as the contact information for Gov. Dayton.

We are hoping that a mitigation against the attack will be implemented shortly. Until then, please check our facebook page for updates and information:

Thanks everyone for your patience and support. Our success over the last few years appears to have resulted in the opposition becoming increasingly desperate, and they've graduated from disinformation and propaganda to criminal acts. The timing is extremely unfortunate, but is evidence that we're winning and that the opposition has no remaining options in an attempt to derail us. It must suck to be them ;)

The website is back up again.

If you haven't emailed Governor Dayton yet regarding SF878, GOCRA has provided a simple form that can be used as a template for contacting him:

Thanks to everyone helping keep the pressure on! Just a few more days of overwhelming support for SF878, and we should see this passed into law!

If he vetoes we should have a recall petition started and waiting to be used!

Minnesota only has recall in place for state constitutional officers under a very strict set of conditions.

I'm not sure these would apply in this situation :/

Call went to voicemail, and mailbox was full at 8:45 a.m. I was, however, able to navigate to Lt. Gov Tina Smith's voice mail and leave a message.

# voice mail system
4 directory
"Tina Smith"

The voice mail system will present you with several guesses as to who you're trying to reach. There is a Christina Smith who is not the same person as Tina Smith, so hold out for "Tina Smith".

Is there a point where we reach saturation and further calls and full VM boxes are more annoying than helpful?

No. We need to keep the pressure up until Dayton makes a decision.

Are the local antis making a push to get gov goofy to veto it? Or is this all about his own skewed view of suppressors?

Not when an individual manually places a call in order to get his or her opinion heard by their elected representatives. Just like you shoot to stop the threat, not to kill, you call to get your opinion heard, not to shut down the phone lines. If the governor finds it annoying, the solution is to increase capacity (or to not be a dumbass in the first place by threatening to veto the bill :).

Nor do I have any reason to assume that "we" are responsible for the saturation. It would be nice if we were, but other people have phones and calls to action as well. There are other important bills, and they all have people hoping he passes or vetoes them.

I honestly believe we can call all day long and at the end of the day he will do whatever the hell he wants. He's already said as much.

They are actively tryin gto get people to call / write in and get him to veto the bill.

they did deliver a petition with 1300 signatures - which is less than half what we have collected.
