If they ask do I have to tell truth?

Postby Huskydriver01 on Mon Jan 18, 2016 1:43 pm

Say your in a store like IKEA and someone from the store asks if I have a conceled handgun on my person. Do I have to tell the truth? I would if its a LEO but wondered about if its just a store employee

Thanks

How would they ever know to ask. They certainly don't put people at the door surveying everyone coming in. So unless concealed is not concealed, it most likely would never happen. But in the highly unlikely event it did I would either say 'I'm sorry I don't answer random questions from strangers'. or 'Excuse me and walk away'. The 'Non of you business' response would by most folks be an admission.

I carry concealed other than when walking on my own property and one time at a Walmart I reached for my wallet and exposed my grip for like a second. The clerk smiled asked is that a 26 or 27 Glock, I said 27 she said cool she carried a 26 wished me a nice day and on I went.

That's a good question for the current administration, the truth is what you say it is.

I might be inclined to state (very loudly and publicly) that it makes me very uncomfortable when strangers ask me if I'm wearing anything under my clothes! Or, "I'll show you what I have concealed under my clothes, if you show me what you have concealed under yours!" ;-)

It is better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it.

"I have two guns"
Flex your arms.
Point to right bicep: "this is Smith"
Point to left bicep: "..and Wesson"
Then say: "did you enjoy the gun show?"

It actually makes people really uncomfortable. I've actually done it.

It is important to remember that you are on private property and your rights end at the door.

And comments like that of UnaStamus don't do responsible gun owners any favors in the public eye.

Well yeah, if they don't ever go to the gym...

Oddly enough, humor works far better for deescalation than standoffish comments like "none of your business" or "I'm not answering your questions".

If I am carrying, and If they're asking, I would assume they are already aware that I am so I'd probably answer "yes" because whatever answer you give is likely to get you "asked to leave". If I'm not carrying, I'd answer truthfully about that too.

I have little compunction about ignoring "No Gun" signs. Doing so, I am fully prepared to accept the consequences but seeing such a sign does make me carefully check that I'm not likely to print.

I think my response would be: "Yes, would you like me to leave the store?"

If so, I'd just quietly and politely exit. No need for drama.

respectfully disagree...........it's no more their business than what color my underwear is. Where do you draw the line? pocket knives? defensive spray etc

May not be best to verbalize the "none of your business" as pointed out above, but it is not information I will share.
