I'm getting discouraged (Orlando Shooting)

Postby Lumpy on Tue Jun 14, 2016 7:51 pm

Another ******** massacre, another wave of calls for banning "assault weapons" and requiring universal registration and licensing. We're one Supreme Court appointment away from losing all the progress made in the past decade. We have reason and logic on our side, but that doesn't fare well in the face of sprawled corpses.

The Founding Fathers wouldn't have believed it if you'l told them that one day the people not only wouldn't object to disarmament, they would cry out for the government to take away guns.

It's late and my eyes are blurry, WTF is that article about? Is DHS taking over gun control or is the head of DHS advocating for more gun control?

So now we have a paramilitary branch of the government who will determine what guns the peasants (ur I mean citizenry) are allowed to purchase.

Sounds like a successful strategy for the left. You have to give it to them. They studied history at least in their liberal arts education.

I really couldn't care about the specifics of the actual weapon used.

The fact remains a shooter used a gun to kill a large number of people.

Both sides are splitting **** hairs.

A shooter killed people that the government viewed as questionable.

Why? Mentally unstable? Criminal actions?

It's reported he pledge or whatever to ISIS. (Still makes me think of the Saturday morning cartoon), so does that make him a domestic terrorist? An Islamic terrorist? Why is the .gov not acknowledging that fact or so damned scared to admit it?

Terrorism is winning. Plain and simple. And people need to realize this **** is only going to get worse. And fast.

Their goal isn't to really go all out and attack us. It's for us, out of fear, to demand our freedoms be given up willingly.

If ISIS really looked like that they would have even more on their side. All goes hand in hand with the demographics of current voters. Give the voters freebies and tell them what you want them to want.

Were the current regime to admit the gravest of our threats are external
(An Islamic terrorist? Why is the .gov not acknowledging that fact or so damned scared to admit it?)

it would undermine their entire narrative that a free America is essential an immoral, and dangerous place due largely to the bitter clingers-and on the verge of self-destruction, save for the intervention of the numerous abc agencies ready to stand a post on every corner to save us from ourselves.
It certainly isn't a downside to the administration that it is more comfortable, and more closely aligned to our totalitarian external enemies, and threatened by the percieved dangers of a free society.

Think of these types of attacks/ shootings, which, purely coincidentally, have proliferated in the past 7 years, as the effective equivalent to the fire (of 'unknown origins') at the Reichstag.

I have never really bought into the "hate our freedoms" argument. I think they are just a bunch of chronic malcontents who enjoy making other people miserable by shooting up clubs, bombing planes or beating their women. They seem to be obsessed with recapturing some mythical former glory that their culture never really had.

Level I Antiterrorism Awareness Training - (2 hrs)

I will honestly be surprised if ONE person completes this course.

Doesn't help that you have "reporting" like this about AR-15's....
It felt to me like a bazooka — and sounded like a cannon.

Kicked like a recoiless rifle? Sounded like a cannon? Right....
The recoil bruised my shoulder. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD.

Gave you PTSD? Uh-huh.
If modified to fully automatic mode, it doesn’t take any imagination to see dozens of bodies falling in front of your barrel.

With an imagination like that, probably best that it is are kept out of your hands then...

Link to where I found it, not the original article.

I read the same article.

Overdramatic media with an agenda.

Especially after watching a drill Sgt putting an M16 on his groin and shooting it.

Here's something else to further depress you....the U.S. Senate Dems are now this very second, engaged in a filibuster session about gun control and there are no less than 37 different gun control bills that were drafted.
Get off my lawn!
