Well, that's interesting news, but I kinda doubt it's the REAL news. Let's try:

In September, a business group presented a proposal for a major high end shooting range in Stillwater. Since a majority of politicians centered around the MSP are absolute bleeding heart liberals, the support was NOT overwhelming, and since the political race at that point looked like Hillary was going to stomp that idiot Trump into the ground, Stillwater could very well wind up with an unfinished BANNED hole in the ground.

In December, Trump has been elected, Wisconsin is one of the three states that put Hillary's bidness in da streetz to be the whore she really is, and the new location is WITHIN VIEW of Wisconsin. $$$!!! In addition, the developers have hyped this development past the point of the biggest Cabela's there is, and then a bit. They are presenting it to Oak Park Heights, the perennial lap dog/illegitimate stepchild of Washington County, who would love to make a ton of money and disgrace their evil stepmother Stillwater. The only fly in the ointment is the grandiose claim that this business is somehow going to make so much money and have things OTHER ranges and stores do not that it will make it look like a Las Vegas Cabela's, Shooting Range, Casino, Bordello, and Bar/Liquor store that's open on Sunday...

And finally: All this news has been reported by: http://kstp.com/news/jennie-lissarrague/4183100/?cat=13041

OK, she has a conservative religious background, so it's possible that she may be a real conservative. Since her credentials are from Liberal Arts college however, aka Der Liberal Indoctrination Stalag, who knows for sure?? But look at that face!! Can you honestly believe that this fine young lady looks like she even knows which end of a gun to pick up, much less kill somebody with in cold blood??

The other thing that makes the hype seem totally unrealistic is that just about 6 miles down the river on the East side is Bill's gun shop in Hudson, with a very nice range, AND you can buy a NUMBER of top end Wilson Combat pistols, and EVEN a Guncrafter Industries Model #1 in 50 GI caliber. :( :o  :? ;) :?: How you gonna top that??? WHO ya gonna call???

My, you seem extra angry about this for some reason Sam...
Do you NOT want this to move forward for some reason?

I wish them all the best!

Somebody say bordello?

I'd put in the time teaching her which end of the gun to hold if needed.

No anger actually, but a fair amount of incredulity at the grandiose claims of the developers, set against the ragged backdrop of small town politics in a BRIGHT BLUE state. The reporter is the ingénue icing on the cake.

The documents submitted in the proposal say it will be a “one-of-a-kind indoor shooting range and retail destination in Oak Park Heights.” Destination means that it is so grand that people will come to from far away just to see it. There are ONLY two DESTINATIONS in Minnezotah. One is the Mall of America, which fully meets the definition of the word. The 2nd is just 2,000 yards due South of this proposed Mecca, and it is the SuperMax Slam called Oak Park Heights. Once you arrive at this DESTINATION, you will stay forever. LITERALLY!

The proposal also says the 8,500-square-foot retail space will have “unique and high-end items not generally offered at other sporting goods outlets.” So does this mean a few Wilson pistols and one Guncrafters Model #1 like Bill's already has, or the entire line of rifles put out by somebody like Barrett or McMillan??

Classes taught by professionals approved by the Minnesota BCA and National Rifle Association will also be offered at 082 Indoor Shooting; they will range from beginner safety and personal defense to advanced marksmanship and tactical.
Does approval by the BCA mean that they have purchase/carry permits just like EVERBODY in this fine ghost town & Daycare Center?? That not much of a recommendation, and I have dibs on the head of the line on this one. And just like EVERYBODY else in the whole world, the term "tacticool" 8-) 8-) is thrown in at the end. In general, tactical is an adjective that is used to hype and/or increase the MSRP of whatever is being advertised, and in this usage I guess it applies to the proposal to build this TACTIAL DESTINATION.

Okay, I admit it. I have time on my hands, and I don't have to worry about freezing to death or Black Ice until late next April, and I can shoot in my shirtsleeves until then.

As I understand things, in the past several years there have been at least 3-4 different gun range proposals in that area by 2 (more or less) different developers.
In Stillwater, there have been plans to go into a car dealership property, and then a furniture store bldg by one group.

Thus far, of the Stillwater plans, one once had the green light, were tanked by technicalities, zoning regs; gun ranges are recreational, the properties' area were commercial(and there was the usual knotted panties about noise, lead solution, yada, yada.
Stillwater residents appeal gun range decision

The most recent reincarnation of the Oak Park Hgts development, (completely distinct from the Stillwater development) the plan has been a new bldg in the general area of Century Power Equip; S of 36, W of 5.
The OPH plan was approved more than a year ago, and has been delayed by financing, not politics... the local .gov has signed off on this one.

A bit of online history about the OPH plan:

Oak Park Heights approves massive gun range off Hwy. 5; intended as a statewide destination, it will dwarf range proposed nearby; 2 SEP '15
Oak Park Heights gun range proposal revived; 27 DEC '16

Given the recent history of upscale ranges, investors might be nervous, but then again, the Stillwater area is a close, attractive weekend destination area, at least more so than some western suburbs...

I understand what you are saying. I am also jaded to marketing and sales speak.

I read the article as blah blah blah...new range...blah blah blah...Oak Park Heights...blah blah blah.

I am just pleased that something like this has the potential to be built 15 minutes from my home.

I hope it works out and they actually break ground.

What better location than Oak Park Heights. Get people from the metro area and the cheeseheads jumping across the river as well.

I am looking forward to a new firearms retailer and "destination". I am an OGC member so i do not need a range.

I changed jobs and am working in Plymouth. I commute from Oakdale. I had forgot about the Frontiersman. Stopped by on my way home one day. It is not as I remembered it. Hopefully a new shop in my neck of the woods will work out.

You live in Oakdale with a Cabela's about 3 miles away, and you're looking for a new gun store, and all the pistols the Frontiersman has is not as good as you remember it??? And with Bill's just across the river on I-94???

I think the only place that might top that is Rodentman's basement or Oldman's shop, and neither of them want to sell stuff!!

Are you hoping Oak Park Heights will be a Las Vegas Cabela's, Shooting Range, Casino, Bordello, and Bar/Liquor store that's open on Sunday???

I don't recall if it was mentioned in the linked articles I posted, but somewhere I read the most recent plan was to scale back the number of pistol/ rifle lanes to make room for an indoor skeet range.
I'll be happy if they allow action pistol events...

May I suggest a more fitting name: Gun Range of America
"...the liberties of the American people were dependent upon the ballot-box, the jury-box, and the cartridge-box; that without these no class of people could live and flourish in this country..." ---Frederick Douglass

Sam. Follow the 3 plus one rules and there is no more need for a high school drop out, I mean lawyer, than at OGC.
