SUPPORT THE GRANBY BOW AND GUN CLUB’S LEGAL DEFENSE FUND
Many of you visiting this page already know as the only 1,000-yard rifle range in New England, we take our responsibility to our members, visitors and neighbors very seriously. Because of this, we strive to provide a safe, one-of-a-kind shooting facility for everyone who visits our club. We also try our best to be good neighbors, offering multiple solutions to address the concerns of the residents who live nearby.
However, a small percentage of residents feel that our efforts are insufficient and are currently asking the town to take more serious steps to address their concerns. In response, we have met with the Granby Selectmen and other town representatives to ensure them that we are taking their concerns, including those related to sound and the environment very seriously.
Because of the complexities involved in defending the club against such a coordinated attack, we have retained an attorney who will represent the club and assist us in navigating the most successful outcome possible. As we all know, attorney’s fees are expensive. And so far, the club has already incurred more than $5000 in legal fees. We expect even more expenses as we respond to the complaints which will continue to be filed with the various town boards and offices.
It is our hope that we can satisfactorily address any legitimate complainants. However, we understand that some people will never be satisfied unless the club’s ability to function as an active range is severely curtailed or the club itself is closed. Therefore, we have every intention to vigorously fight for our club and for all who shoot here.
If you believe in our mission and the value that our club provides to the long-range shooting community here in New England, we ask that you please help us by donating to our legal defense fund by using the form below. All monies will go directly defending the club and will be used for no other purpose.
We understand that you may not be able donate money at this time, and if that is the case, we ask that you share our cause with your fellow shooters so more people can learn about our situation.
Thank you for any support you can provide.
Sincerely,
The GBGC Board of Directors
