cut & pasted from the story: "The robber died with a wad of cash in his hand and a knife in his pocket."

How ironic.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Very interesting (& a bit of scary reality) read.

Here's the part that got most of my attention:

We just wrote about a guy captured with cocaine and an assault rifle modified into a machine gun.
He got 23 days and has been arrested six times since on drug and gun charges.

 Although how can any of this articlae be true-according to the "Brady Bunch" it's the Permit holders that are dangerous :x

I like stories like that, with happy endings. :D Also, the tone of the article is not exactly what you normally get from MSM. Could you imagine the Red Star or PP running something like that? IMO, the public attitude led and put forth by our media has a high degree of influence on the attitude of our society toward this subject.

Problem with Chris' story as I see it, and if it happened exactly the way it was written is this. Chris saw the BG hovering over her and fired two shots. The story doesn't say the BG was beating the clerk, stabbing the clerk etc. just "hovering over" the clerk. It also would have been better if the knife wasn't in his pocket but laying on the floor.(I'n NOT saying I want the clerk to be harmed just the knife out when the BG was killed)
This story as written seems to give the anti's more words to twist in their favor..
In Minnesota I believe that this would be a very costly case to be involved in. At least civil lawyers would be lined up telling the judge/jury that there wasn't justification to us deadly force.
I'm gald Chris and the clerk are ok. I'm just trying to tie this story into a potential reality situation we all as carriers could face at sometime.
If I haven't stated myself clear enough sorry, the written page isn't my strongest area.

Or maybe it would go just like it did. She didn’t just fall to the ground he hitter in the head and pulled her down. But you're right; even if there isn’t doom and gloom we should focus on it.  :cogitating: :lalala: :hide:

Craig, you didn't see the video, did you? The BG didn't look like he was practicing what he learned in the "turning your life around" school. I think the "hovering" comment was made by the author of the article. I could be wrong, but there were no quotes around that part. I think, when you put it all together, noticing a guy who looks like he's casing the joint, screaming clerk, guy previously casing joint now proceeding to beat the **** out of clerk, stolen money and weapon found on dead BG, it can't hurt Chris's case.

This is in no way a justification to the story, and is more than anything a thread drift, but I feel it is worth pointing out here. Im sure this is old hat to many of you, so bear with me here........

Just a heads up for those of you that are unfamiliar to the whole "Convience store robbery" situation. I used to work at a Vicker's gas station in Vanita Park MO, and the place got knocked over on a regluar basis.... I'd say 6-10 times a year wasn't an over estimate. The thing that many people fail to realize about this situation is that the BG is rarely coming in sober. More often than not the BG is looking for money to score some more of whatever it is that he's on, and it's usually something that doesn't have a claming effect. Putting a **** load of adrenaline on top of a **** load of meth makes people do weird, scary, unpredictable things. In this situation any witnesses, or victims that find themselves in the position of being "hovered over" by a BG who is loaded on crack or meth or [insert other wicked designer-made-from-ajax-baking-soda-and-rat-poison drug here] can never assume the worst is over. In many cases like this the worst has yet to come.

Before someone gets all PC on me.......... This was based on the experience at the stores in the area I worked at the time. I am sure that there are some very friendly robbers that simply are looking for a way to feed their family.

FWIW IANAL MY .02 and all that.
If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.

FOr those who think that because this was in Orlando, home of Walt Disney World, it must be a nice place, allow me to correct you. I would say 80 % of Orlando has become crack heaven. I was there in Nov with my parents who were looking at what is going to be the new home office of where my dad was employed before his retirement and the map we got was very clear that only by following the directions on the map would be the safe route to follow. Florida has a done a fairly good job in trying to create partitions between good areas and bad areas by limiting road crossings etc, but still I would have to say that parts of Haiti or the DR or even Liberia are better than the wrong side of orlando. Paramore, pine hills, The whole SOBT uss441 are like warzones, I saw several gas stations with troopers parked in the front area, when I asked the attendant, he said that unless they paid the troopes OT<No one would stop from fear of being jacked

Now just a few miles away, are million dollar homes, phenomenal world class golf resorts ,and world class bass fishing, but get on the wrong side of the tracks, and mad does it get nasty fast.

I was referring to the way the story was WRITTEN, sorry I didn't explain more fully. For what ever reason I couldn't get the video to run.. As WRITTEN the story becomes alot less cut and dried.
