No, they don't melt the plastic to inject it. Polymer handguns are produced with thermoset polymers. These are liquid or semi-solid in their uncured state. A nylon reinforced polymer (such as the proprietary Glock formula) is more like clay than anything else. It is injected into the molds at hundreds of tons of pressure and then heated in the mold to cure the polymer. Once cured, these polymers are bonded at the molecular level and cannot be melted.

This is why the Glock was passed on the SNS law. If heated to the test temperature the plastic does not melt...It Burns.

Glocks are durrable! I fell in a parking lot a while back, the Glock and holster was fine, not even a scratch. I did not fair as well, one of my ribs was broken by the Glock's handle end.

You are partially correct. Thermoset plastics don't melt well. They do still melt. Moving on to the most important part. Do you understand tensile strength?
