Loctite on Scope Mount Screws?

Am wondering if it's a good practice to apply a small amount of blue Loctite to the screws on my Scope mount and screws on the rings. I can't think of a downside, unless someone knows of something I don't. Might be a little more difficult to remove quickly, but I've encountered loose screws after a day of shooting sometimes.

I do on bases. Have gone either way on rings, really depending on the style of ring.

I use low strength purple Loctite or Vibra-Tite VC-3 Threadmate.

Use PURPLE LocTite for the smaller screws.

Either way, you still need to properly torque to specification.

I use purple on barrel to action as I mainly want threads sealed from the solvents I use to clean barrels.

I use blue on some screws, but never use red or green.

I had to on my ar mount, the 15in lbs is a joke. I used loctite 680 it will never shake lose again haha.

Put that on my 338LM screws. Haven’t loosened up since. Light recoil rifles I don’t use any.

I have had scope ring and mounting screws work themselves loose, usually at the worst possible moment. Blue Loctite = not any more.

(OP here), I've noticed this -loose screws- on my Warne mount on my competition AR. So not much recoil at all, so I'll try the purple. Thanks to everyone who chimed it....obviously great minds think alike.

The manufacturer of all my mounts specifically says to not lap the rings.

Make sure to degrease all threads with either denatured alcohol or some other kind of drying degreaser.

I use blue loctite on all of my screws. And paint pen witness marks.

ADM, Badger Ordnance, Bobro, Nightforce, GDI, Leupold Tactical (not the hunting line), Seekins, Spuhr, TPS, US Optics, Vortex, Zero Delta, to name a few.

Most tactical scope rings of good quality are cut from a single piece of aluminum or use such high tolerances that there are no variances.
